Outsource UK are currently seeking a Senior Middleware Consultant for a 3 month contract for a large banking organisation in London.
This role is based outside IR35 and will initially be working remote.
Job Responsibilities:
Senior Unix/Middle Tier Systems consultant role combines a number of tasks to provide support to project teams during the upgrade process, these tasks including but not limited to:
- Build and Upgrades
- All system upfront preparation activities
- Deployment of Java applications, configuration of JBOSS, SSL and Tomcat
- Working with Windows team to build VMs within vCenter
- Assist application teams on Java applications hosted on JBoss migrations using elevated rights within UNIX ie root
- Build and configure OS and migrate applications and work with DBA to move associated databases from old environments to new
- Assist with decommission activities as and when required
- Troubleshooting and resolving any environment and access/rights issues
- Coordinate activities between BAU, Oracle and Windows SME's and manage workload and prioritise activities and escalate any conflicts
- Provide input into knowledge transfer/run books
- Provide input into service transition work-stream
- Assist with decommission activities as and when required
Skills Required:
- 5-7 years' experience with installation, configuration and administration of JBOSS and Tomcat Application Server and Apache web server in an Enterprise environment
- Strong Red Hat and Oracle Linux operating system installation and administration experience on VMware
- Implementation and configuration of SSL in an Enterprise environment
- Perform JBOSS, Tomcat and Apache system administration, troubleshooting, monitoring, problem resolution, system security and change implementation
- Excellent knowledge and deployment experience of Java technologies such as Struts, Swing, Angular, JSP and web services
- Plan, prepare and apply maintenance fixes and upgrades to JBOSS and Tomcat
- Proven experience of working on upgrade projects
- Support weekend release implementations and provide input into implementation and back-out plans
