Description

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation based in Edinburgh, are currently looking to recruit a Senior Infrastructure Architect for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of £/day (outside of IR35). Due to the current circumstances this role will initially be remote based.

Responsibilities:
Ensuring coherence and currency of relevant areas of the organisation's Technology Reference Architecture.
Maintaining Enterprise Architecture modelling in relation to life cycle and supportability of the organisation's infrastructure.
Ensuring appropriate resilience and security are built into the existing and future infrastructure
Developing strategic considerations for enhancements to the estate to reduce costs and improve delivery of digital services
Develop and document principles, polices, standards and building blocks related to the organisation's infrastructure
Creating and maintaining the 2 - 5 year roadmap for the organisation's infrastructure and all supporting architecture artefacts
Providing technical delivery assurance to the organisation's projects, programmes and delivery labs, ensuring alignment with principles, policies, standards and roadmaps
Providing technical assistance and advice with management and engagement of the organisation's suppliers

Requirements:
Experience of the design and implementation of LAN, WAN, voice, data and unified communication solutions for organisations with tens of sites and thousands of users.
Experience of network periphery security infrastructure such as Firewalls, proxies, reverse-proxies, web filters, API gateways.
Experience of working within a hybrid on-premise/cloud environment with good Azure knowledge
Experience in the design and implementation of server infrastructure (including clusters) and storage technologies (including SAN and NAS)
Experience of large-scale virtualisation of workloads using both VMware or Hyper-V
Experience of implementing High-availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
Expertise in delivering and operating hybrid on-premise/cloud solutions with excellent Azure knowledge
Experience of managing complex IT systems, services and infrastructure which includes Wintel, Unix and database technologies
Ability to think innovatively and strategically and to challenge existing processes to improve efficiencies and outcomes
An understanding of public sector procurement processes and ITO environments
A basic understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks
