SC Cleared- Out of hours Technical Support (Python, Flask, AWS)

Remote Contract (UK)

Day rate: £450- £500 per day

Tech Stack: AWS, Python, Flask, Serverless Aurora

Hours of work: 17:00 - 09:00

Initial contract length: 3 months

Are you an SC Cleared Python Engineer that is confident with the Flask framework and has worked on serverless MySQL projects that are hosted on AWS in the past?

This is a out of hours technical Support Engineer for us Methods who are a leading boutique digital transformation consultancy that specialise within the Public Sector and have done for 30 years. The hours of work will be 17:00 - 09:00 and at Weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to event alerts, notify the core team (via Slack or similar) and review/respond to requests for support
  • Respond to availability of the application and infrastructure events like DB availability, Instance availability, API endpoint availability and the space availability of disk drives and file systems using the supplied technology and toolset.
  • On callout, scrutinise alert logs files, transaction logs and backup logs
  • Respond to calls/support tickets from 1st line support sources, development teams and external suppliers
  • Monitor the backups, recovery errors, respond to the request regarding the restoration of the files and databases
  • Respond to metric alerts, performance related issues like high CPU utilisation, application performance, high memory utilisation, high network throughput, unusual access patterns (NOTE, this depends on adequate monitoring/tooling)
  • Resolve the request for service/component stop/start
  • Acknowledge user creation and grant specific data access to user with appropriate approvals included
  • Resolve issues relating to communication failures to users, external and third parties and between supported, integrated systems as part of the whole solution
  • Resolve issues affecting end users (in)ability to complete the registration process to resolution including debugging application code and release to lower environments subject to agreement with the Service Operations Manager. Code promotion to higher environments will be in agreement with the Service Operations Manager and GDS.
  • Write Root Cause Analysis reports and End of Shift handover/knowledge transfer reports
