Data Centre Management Technician (DCMT Engineer)
Our client, a major global IT service provider, require a Data Centre Management Technician to join their Service Operations team in the Feltham/London. This role will be on site.
This is a 6-month temporary contract starting ASAP
Key responsibilities:
Act as a single point of contact for technical specialist and project teams wishing to arrange the installation of Servers, appliances, storage and network devices within data centresPrioritise, plan, co-ordinate and schedule server installation activities (involving IBM, HP, Oracle, platform teams and DCMT) on behalf of programme teams - covering hardware, networking, OS configuration and base Operations Architecture tool installation.Maintain and test the data centre facilities ensuring the data processing environment is available at all required timesMaintain a relationship with key suppliers with relation to the Data Centre facilities and the resolution of technical problemsRequirements:
Foundation technical understanding of IBM, Oracle and HP server hardware, Solaris, Linux and Windows Server operating systems, networking, storage, clustering and Data Centre topologiesGood commercial awareness and budget control, and experience of third party services liaisonDetailed knowledge of electrical installation practice to BSth Edition. Detailed knowledge of The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the ability to inspect for adherence by installers. CG2391 Certificate in Electrical Inspection desirableDetailed knowledge of data cabling (copper and fibre) installation requirements, components and application sufficient to assess designs and installation workClient facing skillsVery Good Communicator who can understand business requirements and convert them into customizable product specs
