This role is to start ASAP and is inside IR35 paying up to PAYE £21.99 +holiday pay and pension or £27.43 p/h Umbrella
Working for the NHS, we require a Project Manager for installation of new or upgrade of existing networks (WAN, LAN, WLAN and IP telephony) which will involve cabling infrastructure installs as well.
Cisco experience, experience of cabling standard to aid the cabling infrastructure designs and installation (you will not be doing the cabling - but will be required to attend surveys with estates and installers to discuss routes, tray work, H&S issues around access and work restrictions (eg working at heights, asbestos etc..). You will also be required to check and snag the installations once completed.
Duties will include -
- Ability to react and work under pressure, planning towards and working on multiple projects deadlines simultaneously.
- Attend meetings with internal stake holders and external contractors as the lead representative of ICT Operations, gathering new system requirements and acting as knowledge base for SBU IT systems.
- Ability to liaise with suppliers and contractors regarding installation of systems and services.
- Work closely with all teams within Digital Services, including other departments such as Procurement for placing of orders and tender queries, Capital Planning for input into Capital projects, Estates for electrical and building infrastructure advice.
- During installation and deployments arrange and organise downtime with end users and key stake holders, ensuring they are kept up to date on progress and address any issues as they arise.
- Produce and manage project documentation conforming with ITIL standards.
- Produce concise and detailed handover documentation on completion of projects.
- Ability to identify project risks, record them and escalate them appropriately as and when required.
Experience/skills required -
1. A good knowledge of structured cabling and fibre optic standards, containment and network infrastructure best practices.
2. A good working knowledge and understanding of Cisco networking, covering WAN, LAN, WLAN and Telephony systems.
3. An understanding of WAN infrastructure, ADSL, FTTC, FTTP etc. and the services ISPs are able to provide.
4. Keen eye for detail, being able to check on installation works and report any issues, on completion pull together snagging lists and ensure outstanding issues are resolved.
5. Ability to react and work under pressure, planning towards and working on multiple projects deadlines simultaneously.
6. During installation and deployments arrange and organise downtime with end users and key stake holders, ensuring they are kept up to date on progress and address any issues as they arise.
7. Able to travel across entire SBU HB estate to attend site surveys to plan and gather installation requirements with third-party agencies, contractors and end-users.
8. Attend Capital Planning meetings with internal stake holders and external contractors as the lead representative of ICT Operations, gathering new system requirements and acting as knowledge base for SBU IT systems.
9. Ability to liaise with suppliers and contractors regarding installation of systems and services, managing and co-ordinating contractors on existing or newbuild sites.
10. Work closely with all teams within Digital Services, including other departments such as Procurement for placing of orders and tender queries, Capital Planning for input into Capital projects, Estates for electrical and building infrastructure advice.
