We are seeking a Senior Systems Specialist to join our HR Department on a temporary basis, primarily to coordinate the data collection, manipulation and verification required for University to use the Job Retention (Furlough) Scheme and any other emerging Government schemes to support employment during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, you will provide support to the HR Systems Manager on data manipulation requires to enable organisational changes to be reflected in our HR and payroll systems.

It's an exciting and challenging time to join us as we respond to emerging Government guidance on Covid-related schemes to support employment. You will become a subject-matter expert in the eligibility criteria for such schemes and work closely with our HR operational teams and Finance colleagues to gather and manage the data required to use the relevant scheme(s) in a timely and compliant way.

Drawing on your advanced Excel skills and extensive experience in the creation and running of reports from different tools, you will reviewing and optimising the methods that we have been using to extract, join, manipulate and interrogate data, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. You will work in a cross-functional, Matrix team to suggest and document improvements to the end-to-end process.

You will be personally responsible for extracting data from our HR and payroll system to carry out eligibility checks for relevant schemes.

At a demanding time within the HR Systems team, your ability to use your initiative and plan your workload effectively will enable you to hit the ground running.

*Experience in creating and running reports from IT systems
*Experience of working with complex data structures
*Ability to manipulate data using a variety of tools, including using advanced MS Excel skills
*High level analytical and problem solving skills
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills to allow effective and clear discussions around complex subjects, including with a non-technical audience
*Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision and to plan workload effectively to ensure challenging targets are met
*Ability to deal with complex technical issues in a timely, accurate and effective way

Desirable
*Knowledge/experience of working with HR systems and HR business processes
