Lead Architect
Location: Remote currently
Duration: 2 months - possible extension

We are heading up a project on behalf of a global IT consultancy that require a Lead Architect to join their team on a major government project that is based remotely.

Role Description:
Working as part of the Account Service Delivery team, with a direct line to the UK Engineering Manager and assignment reporting line to the Account Lead Architect, the candidate will have specialist platform expertise and be able to:
Rapidly identify and assist in resolving technical delivery issues before they begin to impact live services
Develop problems into viable solutions and drive initiatives that will improve delivery quality
Work with the account lead architect, GOL, SDM and CTO on pre/post-sales opportunities, considering external factors (eg regulations, third parties etc), service delivery SLAs and contractual agreements
Provide technical oversight and governance over projects to ensure that change brought by those projects will not adversely affect the live services
Identify and mitigate technical risk to run services
Work with problem and incident management (leading and owning where necessary) on activities focused on resolution and root cause analysis
Oversee technical change activities (leading and owning where necessary)
Proactively perform customer and internal stakeholder management, fostering trust and delivering on commitments
The account-based candidate will be chiefly responsible for their specialist platform area of expertise; however, the work is varied and shall therefore cover a wide breadth of technologies. Thus, a broad range of operational, solution design, implementation, and service delivery experience are essential.

Key Responsibilities
1) Ensure the successful Run and development of services delivered by Capgemini to the Customer by providing:
Strategic planning, roadmaps, and life cycle management of both hardware and software platforms
Business case development & initiative formulation
Continual Service Improvements (CSI) & Continual platform assessment for improvements converted into innovation and relevant offers
Clear understanding and responsibility of scope and nature of the change
Design work as required - for example, developing/supporting the low-level design of any proposed solution and demonstrating any impact on the overall account landscape
Understanding of and ascertaining SME requirements early in project and work phases alongside the Project Manager/Service Delivery Manager therefore enabling the submission of accurate resource requests
Understanding of, and the ability to work within the operational cost base. All recommendations and proposals must be in within the account's budget
Effective communication between the client and delivery team of any technical issues and their resolution/mitigation
Identification and mitigation of any technology risks
Knowledge of standard Global Practice Infrastructure Offers (GIO) that will enhance the Capgemini service offering for Infrastructure propositions
Interpretation and the application of global standards into local requirements

2) Within their own specialised technical domain, the candidate will:
Identify ideas/areas that would result in reduced run/operational costs to both Capgemini and the client
Have a full understanding of the account contractual obligations
Provide an advisory role on bids and pre-sales through transition and transformation
Provide and develop inputs to the technical strategy for the account
Build, maintain and co-ordinate the technical relationships with strategic suppliers
Propose options for improvements to the existing client infrastructure
Identify where existing systems can be improved and/or modified to ensure maximum ROI is being achieved
Review client's infrastructure for products that are nearing EOL (End of Life) and propose options for improvements
Manage and lead where appropriate technical related aspects during service escalations
Provide continuous technical development and support to the technical communities in the GDCs and UK
Adherence to global practice standard and ensuring best practice is adopted

3) Provide Innovation by:
Using knowledge of account and client spot opportunities to deliver innovation to reduce ongoing cost of delivery
Engaging with Continuous Innovation Forum(s)
Managing the development of the architecture in line with the client and account requirements to ensure efficient operation

4) During Problem account situations, the candidate will:
Take ownership of technical actions including being accountable for tracking and leading the development of proposed solutions
Drive and engage SMEs as appropriate for the analysis, development and resolution phases
Understand, communicate and mitigate any risks associated with remedial actions
Have a clear understanding of escalation processes, and be comfortable flexing their network to achieve resolution in a timely manner

Generic Role Skills
The candidate will have expertise and specific platform knowledge in their own technical domain, and will also have:
Strong written and verbal skills, with excellent presentation skills
Awareness and understanding of Incident/Problem Management processes, Capgemini documentation standards and the importance of architectural reviews/approvals
The ability to simplify concepts and pitch at different target audiences. Including the ability to translate from an 'implementation' to 'run' scenario and create a relevant document set
The ability to create high and low-level design documents
Excellent client skills, working with the Account Lead Architect, SDM and CTO on pre/post-sales opportunities
An understanding of RightShore and Shift left delivery models
A full understanding of client business needs and requirements; therefore, able to manage customer expectations against these requirements accordingly
A strategic mindset but also be detail orientated. For example, the ability to holistically consider whilst understanding the nuances of interaction/configuration across the technical landscapes
