Harvey Nash are now inviting candidates to apply for the role of Financial Accountant for a six-month contract, inside of IR35 for a public sector organisation located in Edinburgh. Candidates must operate through an Umbrella company and have a Disclosure Scotland certificate in place.
The Assignment:
As Financial Accountant you will be responsible for the production of the annual report and accounts and capital accounting framework including maintenance/verification of the fixed asset register and managing the year-end financial outturn position.
Responsibilities/Experience Required:
- Manage the preparation and delivery of the year end statutory annual accounts ensuring compliance with best practise
- Production and upkeep of annual accounts framework to ensure compliance with all accounting requirements and legislation.
- Roll forward and prepare the underlying files that support the delivery of the year end accounts
- Gather audit evidence and backup documents and prepare supporting notes for audit review
- Ensure that appropriate financial controls are in place, up to date and operating effectively within the finance team and the wider organisation.
- Provide technical financial expertise to finance and the wider organisation in line with best practice
- Review accounting policies and make recommendations to senior management on changes to accounting policies and process change requirements to align with best practice
- Interface with External Audit when required.
- Support senior managers and budget holders by providing specialist advice on key strategic financial management issues
