Description
My client are currently seeking a PBX Telephony Delivery Engineer to work on a telephony upgrade project based in Didcot, Oxfordshire. The role will be required on-site, with some flexibility to work from home.
This is a significant piece of work that involves high levels of technical leadership to take complex solution design across multiple inter-connected technologies and implement them in across the business with significant stakeholder, colleague, and supplier engagement. This post will be supported by a Technical Architect team and several junior telephony engineers.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of on premise PBX telephony and cloud based telephony with the ability of implementing a tailored hybrid solution to meet the business needs.
Responsibilities
The high level responsibilities of the role include:
- Configuration and implementation of the elements required to run a hybrid telephony system.
- Creating and documenting detailed solution designs from high level plans
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation for both project purposes, and for ongoing operational purposes.
- Supporting change management through Change Advisory Boards.
- Engaging with Technical Architects to enable them to assure the overall solution.
- Engaging suppliers for solution implementation monitoring and quality assurance.
- Engaging stakeholders for communicating solution approaches and progress.
- Planning and implementation of detailed migration activities.
- Providing information into the project management team for their regular reporting on the overall delivery picture.
- Supporting project planning and progress monitoring.
- Participating in risk reviews.
- Following best practices, techniques, and tools for capturing, recording, and sharing detailed solution designs in alignment with industry standards.

- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in communication, team-working, motivation and problem solving
- Ability to ensure Digital Infrastructure (DI) Technical Architects are aware of most significant details of solution design, while capturing all relevant details so they are available to DI as needed.
- Attention to detail for the accurate capture of solution design and implementation information.
- Ability to validate own work, and the work of colleagues where appropriate
- Ability to present technical information in a non-technical manner to users
- Ability to work unsupervised and as an active member of a multi-disciplined and busy team

This role is Inside IR35, so applicants must be willing to engage via an Umbrella Company.
