Drupal Developer (Backend)

My market leading client is looking to secure the services of a Drupal Developer (Backend) to assist with critical Central Government projects over the coming months. Applicants will ideally come from a strong GDS and/or Consultancy background.

Location: Wales (Remote)
Rate: £375 - £475 per day
Duration: 3 months Initial (Extensions)
Clearance: Any Clearance a Bonus
IR35 Status: OUTSIDE

Key Skills:
- Develop multi-lingual sites and microsites across multiple domains, some with complex API integrations and modules; including content/data migration from a multi-platform digital estate; ensuring stability and continuity in mission critical systems.

- Write clean, efficient and sustainable code, utilising industry best practices and standards, leveraging the latest technologies using up to date Drupal development practices to create a great audience experience and maintain stability, security and continuity in mission critical systems.

- Design, code, test, correct and document complex programs, modules and scripts; delivering robust and high-quality, scalable and optimised solutions from briefs and agreed specifications for a diverse range of projects, although predominantly Drupal 8 and 9 based web applications to deliver customer focused experiences.

- Work in an agile environment with continuous delivery and continuous integration systems to ensure efficient working practices so that projects and briefs can be delivered without disruption to mission critical live product environments and so maintain an uninterrupted user experience.

- Keep up to date with Drupal and WordPress security practices and maintain CMS code bases with up to date and relevant patches and updates to ensure the security of codebases within the client's digital estate.

- Collaborate with third party technology partners' system points of contact and with external developers when extra or specialist resource is needed to maintain seamless integrations that maintain and increase engagement of key audiences.

- Maintain existing sites and applications applying enhancements and updates and facilitating the timely support for bug fixes, so that visitors enjoy a great user experience.

- Work on multiple project workflows including coordinating feature upgrades and to develop and deliver a diverse range of projects including the building of custom Drupal modules and integrations to help future growth and maintainability of customer facing systems.

Skills and qualifications (Essential):

- Degree qualified in a relevant area of technology such as Computer Science, Software Engineering or have equivalent experience.
- Significant commercial experience in web development, SQL and with speciality in PHP.
- JavaScript/jQuery/Vue.
- Experience in HTML5, SCSS (Sass) and CSS3
- Mid-senior level experience in Back End Drupal 8 and 9 development building and maintaining reliable custom Drupal apps and modules and in-depth knowledge of Drupal Views, Blocks, Rules and Paragraphs.
- Experience with complex nuanced API integrations.
- In-depth knowledge of Symfony and other PHP frameworks and with Sass and Less/Compass.
- Experience in Drupal configuration for multi-lingual and multi-domain in multi-server environments in AWS & Acquia and in the use of the drush command-line tool.
- Experience of code versioning tools (eg Azure DevOps, Git), working in an agile environment.
- Experience performing code reviews and in the provision of process documentation.

Skills and qualifications (Desirable):
- Acquia Certified
- Experience or willingness to learn CI/CD and or DevOps.
- Experienced working on custom WordPress themes.
- Experience working with a conversion rate optimisation platform (eg VWO, Optimizely, Google Optimize).
- Experience of operating in a government and political environment.
- Spoken/written Welsh language skills
