Solution Designer (IT Infrastructure Architect)
Our client, a global supplier for IT services, requires an experienced Solution Designer with a background in IT Infrastructure design, to join their team in their clients' office in Nottingham. This is a 6 months temporary contract, to start on 18th of January 2021.
The right candidate will be working on projects developing existing infrastructure and creating new solutions in response to growing business requirements. The Solution Designer will also be working and delivering solutions on mission-critical IT systems in a large enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical consultancy services for cross-functional and cross-technology projectsThis will include engaging internal IT teams and 3rd party vendorsDesigning end-to-end solutions to meet the requirements of the business and ensure these are successfully deliveredWork with Enterprise and Technical Architects to provide consistent technical designs and proposals in response to internal customer requests and project demandsWork with the rest of the delivery and operations teams to support problem resolution as a point of escalation for root cause analysis and remediation planningBe able to lead activities and deliver challenging initiatives to business units across multiple countriesUtilise existing architecture framework, patterns and standards along with combining external, market and technology trends and expert knowledge to help develop and promote use of new onesBe an active team member of the Solution Design team and support colleagues through collaborative peer reviews, standards compliance checks and due diligenceAbility to take a creative approach to problem solving, with a passion to be deeply technicalHave an acute eye for detail and demonstrate ability to assimilate diverse and complex technologiesAbility to write clear and concise technical documentation covering High-Level Design and Low-Level DesignMust be looking for a challenging workplace and capable of working in a high-output environmentPossess a high degree of self-management and motivation to prioritise multiple tasks and deadlines with competing demandsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsMust be able to effectively work with various customers, from senior leadership to 3rd party vendorsThe ability to rapidly understand the business, commercial and technical requirements to build solutions is vitalExperience with large scale, complex projects and programmes, requiring highly available, disaster recovery and business continuity compliant systems in an international contextBe able to reduce complex ideas to simple terms and express rationale for decision making to both a non-technical and technical audiencePossesses a broad knowledge of solution areas such as infrastructure, transformation and migration, security, business analysis, applications, integration, service management and understands how these interact to arrive to a solutionCo-ordination and frequent progress updates with all required stakeholdersOwning and participating technical calls to understanding business requirements and providing solutionsWill be responsible for analysing and providing solutions for IT/Business systems requirementsKey Skills/Knowledge:
15+ years of IT experience and ability to manage complex business requirements and provide technical solutionsHave a deep understanding and functional experience in listed key skill setsExperienced in Cloud technologies, especially AzureWorking in complex environments and experience of conflict resolutionDatabases platforms - Oracle, DB2, MS SQL, MySQL, operating in clustered environmentsExperience in Unix and Linux - AIX and Red Hat EnterpriseMicrosoft Enterprise product suite - Windows Server, AD, ADFS, NPS, DHCP, DNS, Cluster servicesServer infrastructure - virtualisation, storage, managed backup, hyper-converged platformsPrivate and public Cloud technologies - particularly Azure Cloud migration and co-existence techniquesFull range of Azure IaaS, PaaS, SaaS products including Azure SQL, Cosmos DB and Azure App servicesSAP - SAP Architecture and SAP Basis across multiple SAP components and versions (NetWeaver & HANA), operating on UNIX and Windows platforms, both on-premise and Azure Cloud.
