Parity Group are delighted to be engaged with a well-known progressive organisation on a large project and as a result have the need for a Finance Officer to join their team based in Newport on a 3 month contract.

ALL APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ROLE IS INSIDE IR35.

Role

Reporting to the Senior Finance Officer and sitting within the wider Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) business unit, you'll be responsible for your own business area allocation and will deliver high quality financial MI, analysis and monthly accounting processes. Through doing this you will support, advise and coach your customers, allowing and enabling them to make informed business decisions.
Harnessing leading edge analytical and automation tools (Alteryx, Tableau and Oracle Fusion) you'll collate, cleanse and analyse the data, applying context to inform and advise your customers in the business. You will be a part of an engaged and motivated team with a focus on active problem solving, peer review and continuous professional development

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with budget holder contacts, up to Deputy Director (SCS 1) level.
    . Providing budget holders with advice and training on budgeting, forecasting, government accounting rules and resource accounting principles (eg accruals and pre-payments).
    . Scrutinising budget holders' decisions and assumptions, providing effective challenge when appropriate.
    . Delivering timely and accurate monthly Management Accounts and ensuring the correct accounting treatments of journals and other transactions for all business areas within role scope.
    . Ensuring accurate budgets and forecasts are uploaded to Oracle Fusion, meeting the monthly Finance Operations accounts timetable.
    . Producing clear and robust variance analysis and providing explanations for material movements to finance colleagues (including Finance Business Partners.)
    . Working flexibly across the team and shifting direction quickly to meet changing priorities and demands.

Essential Criteria:

. Experience within a management accounts position
. Excellent communication skills and a confident speaker
. Experience of using data to offer guidance and advice to customers for the needs to the business

Desirable Criteria:

. Familiar with the management accounts process
. Experience of working within a fast-paced finance function
. Working towards/hold a financial qualification (AAT, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CIPFA) or qualified through experience
. Knowledge and experience in collating and analysing management information reports
. Comfortable using Oracle, Alteryx or Tableau or similar BI and analytics tools
. Experience of delivering high quality financial management reporting
. Familiar with financial systems such as Oracle
