Description

We are heading up a recruitment drive on behalf of a global IT consultancy that require a AT THE MOMENT Windows Engineer to join their team on a major Banking project in Knutsford.

IMPORTANT: This role will be based on site in Knutsford from Day 1. Submitted candidates must be ok with working on site from the start of the contract.

ATM Windows Engineer responsibilities include, but are not be limited to:

- Researching, designing, implementing and managing windows 10 based solutions
- Testing and evaluating new solutions
- Identifying areas for modification in existing solutions and subsequently developing these modifications
- Writing and implementing efficient scripts
- Determining operational practicality
- Developing quality assurance procedures
- Deploying tools, processes and metrics
- Maintaining and upgrading existing systems
- Working closely with developers, UX designers, business and systems analysts

Requirements:

- Strong experience using, configuring and managing Microsoft Windows 10 and associated tools
- Strong PowerShell Scripting skills for automation of tasks, reporting and deployment
- Good understanding of Active Directory/DHCP/DNS/Group Policy
- Good knowledge of Continuous Integration, Automated Deployment or configuration management
- Understanding of LAN/WAN/VLAN, TCP/IP, UDP
- Hands-on experience in writing Windows Batch/VBS/PS scripts,
- Working knowledge of source code repositories (SVN, GIT)
- Working knowledge of automation tools (Jenkins, Chef, etc)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Ability to communicate complex procedures to other colleagues
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

- Hands-on C++/C# experience,
- Experience in writing unit tests and automated test scripts,
- Understating of software engineering principles (OOP, TDD, etc),
- Degree in relevant software engineering discipline,
- Awareness of leading-edge tools, techniques and services within IT,
- Familiarity with software development methodologies, eg Agile, Scrum, Lean, CI
