Description

We are heading up a recruitment drive on behalf of a global IT consultancy that require a Technical Writer to join their team on a major banking project.

We're currently seeking a high-calibre professional to join our team as Technical Writer. This writer will create technical product documentation for new and existing products on behalf of our global engineering team. We're looking for someone who can quickly and consistently create clear, concise and compelling documentation about complex software products and platforms. This will include customer developer portals, wikis, user guides, run books, product catalogues, and stakeholder presentations. You'll have a deep understanding of the application of technology and an appreciation of how those applications will address our internal customers' needs. You'll know how to make complex information accessible, discoverable, and easy to maintain. Our ideal candidate will have a technical background (foundation) allied with a track record of creating successful documentation for technical products. Couple this with previous exposure to API development, developer tooling, micro-services, API standards definition, and cloud-based platforms, and you'll be our perfect candidate.

Principal Responsibilities
Create templates, information structures and content for sustainable and reusable product documentation. This will include user manuals, runbooks, product catalogues, customer developer portals, and stakeholder presentations
Work with Product Management, Engineers, Architecture and Business Stakeholders to ensure information is accurate and accessible
Develop our internal brand through simple, consistent and precise language
Work with the Product Manager and Solution Engineers to identify the right documentation for our customers to facilitate efficient self-service
Coordinate product documentation updates with product releases

Requirements
University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum principles and best practices
Knowledge of API-driven development and best practices, especially from a security perspective
Ability to review functional/technical specification documentation and to convert it into easily accessible product documentation
Familiarity with (and willingness to learn more about) DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, Splunk, AppD)
Track record of creating successful documentation for technical products and exposure to
API development, developer tooling, micro-services, API standards definition and cloud-based platforms
Skilled/advanced user of Confluence and SharePoint
Excellent stakeholder engagement and management
Strong business sense with good understanding of how IT systems impact and enable business objectives
Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills, with the ability to operate with finesse and nuance across a diverse range of cultural work environments
Excellent team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision
Excellent command of written English
Specialised knowledge of, and proficiency with, grammar and plain English
Track record of combining copywriting with wider editorial skills
Experience of defining, developing and implementing style guides and editorial standardisation
