Description

DevOps Engineer required to work with a Government Department. This is an initial 6 month contract, In Scope of IR35, paying £660 per day. The is a remote contract until further notice (offices based in central London)

Ideally you will hold valid and current SC Clearance.

Summary
*The Platforms (Infrastructure as a Service provisions) currently host around 80 live services and microservices, with more in development.
*The department is modernising its Platform provision to enable greater automation of development including automatic scaling, reduced support costs, as well as reduced risks of human error.
*Migration of services to the new platform reutilises shared central infrastructure and will allow the department to decommission the existing CHDP (Cloud Hosting Digital Platform) thereby enabling cost savings.
*Platform modernisation plays a significant part of the strategy to exit its contracts with an existing supplier in April 2021 and is a key enabler for new digital services to operate.
*Continued maintenance of our existing CHDP platform is mission critical in being to support digital services including the management of existing relationships with key stakeholders
*Utilising existing knowledge greatly de-risks platform maintenance and re-utilises existing knowledge to ensure incidents can be managed in accordance with SLA's and supports migration efforts to the EBSA platform.
*A Dev-Ops engineer is therefore required to oversee incidents, meet security standards and maintain service continuity for our critical services

Responsibilities:
*Ongoing Cloud Hosting Digital Platform (CHDP) Platform critical server maintenance
*Support Data seeding for Data Replication
*Set up connectivity between Data Centre and CHDP
*Ongoing HODC Platform maintenance and upgrades
*Provide on-call services for the platforms

Technical skills required:
*Kubernetes
*Terraform
*ELK
*Prometheus
*Grafana skills.

Skills/Knowledge required:
*Server maintenance
*Operating and maintaining services within a digital estate
*Security patching to maintain Servers
*Live Service Management of digital services, including DDaT approach to service management
*Knowledge of security standards
*DDaT change management processes
*project delivery governance
*Coaching and mentoring
*Knowledge of agile delivery context
