Job Title: HR SME Business Change Lead

Location: Manchester

Duration: 12 Months initially

The Day Job
Lead ER & Performance Partner, reporting directly to the People Director. This is a key and highly influential role within the People Leadership Team to take the lead on all ER matters, providing expertise and support to senior stakeholders with key change activity and support and guidance to our managers and franchise partners, both directly and through coaching and developing more junior members of the team. This is a hands-on and hugely varied role where you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the capability and performance of our people and function.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Accountable for the end to end ER service, you will successfully lead and managing all complex/high risk employee relations cases to resolution, and provide strong leadership and guidance to more junior team members in the provision of first line ER and Policy advise and support to our managers and franchisees.
  • You will also lead on any Trade Union liaison, TUPE activity or senior stakeholders organisational change programmes across the business, partnering and working closely with the People Director.
  • Coaching, developing, influencing and contributing as a key business partner to support, build and develop performance and capability and lead positive change.
  • Provide credible subject matter expertise and thought leadership, keeping abreast of legislation, industry trends and best practice to support continuous improvement and drive service excellence.
  • Proactively analysing and utilising people data, trends and insight to make business recommendations and develop and deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Collaborating positively with team colleagues and the People Director, as a member of the People Leadership Team, to support the development and delivery of the overall people strategy and plans and our day to day activities and service.
  • Successfully leading or supporting key people or business projects against defined budget, timescales and key deliverables.

Essential Skills:-
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Operated as the ER expert/lead within a people leadership team.
  • Demonstrable expertise in leading and supporting at a senior level on volume and complex ER case work to ET, TUPE and organisational change programmes and of leading a specialist ER service. Trade Union experience desirable.
  • Used to operating in a complex and fast paced change oriented multi-site operations environment at scale; ideally retail or similar. Franchised experience desirable.
  • Degree educated or equivalent. Fully CIPD qualified.
  • Exceptional employment legislation, people policy & process and governance expertise.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, influencing and stakeholder management skills - highly service and delivery focussed.
  • Agile and accountable thinker and doer with a can do approach - operating always with the customer and team fully in mind and the end clearly in sight.
  • Excellent technology and data analysis skills. Able to manage, interpret and present data and recommendations articulately to the highest level.
  • Degree level education or equivalent, typically in Business, Information Technology or Engineering (includes appropriate apprenticeships)
  • Solid consulting experience in a recognised consulting business
  • Experience of building business cases
