I am urgently seeking a Devops engineer to join one of my growing clients based in South Wales.
The role is a 6 month contract, is outside IR35 and will be fully remote working. The client is looking to set up interviews from Monday next week.

The DevOps Engineer will work with the Development and Test teams to ensure that DevOps ways of working, including Continuous Build, Continuous Integration and Automated Testing, are implemented correctly; and will work with the Product Owner to ensure deliverables are committed to and delivered on time and to the required quality by the development teams.

The role will focus on working with/guiding the teams towards improving the way they work & impediment removal.

The successful candidate should have significant experience working in a software development team throughout the full software development life cycle, as detailed practical knowledge of all areas from requirements definition through to system test and acceptance is key to the effective leadership of the DevOps team.

Essential skills:

  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experienced at working in a Scrum environment
  • Competent in Software Development, Integration and Test - depth of experience in some areas and breadth of understanding across the discipline,
  • Experienced in the following engineering tools or equivalents: Jenkins/Jenkins Pipelines, Artifactory, Rational Quality Manager, Rational Team Concert, Git/GitLab, VMWare vSphere, Dell Storage, Infrastructure as code (eg Ansible) automated deployment, Scripting tools (eg groovy, bash, powershell).
  • Ability to generate well-structured technical documents and manage through a review process to achieve release to committed deadlines.
  • Self-motivated demonstrating integrity, professionalism, flexibility, commitment and innovation
  • Needs to be confident and professional when working with development and test teams

Desirable skills

  • SC Clearance
  • Understanding of software architectures, and design patterns
  • Defect investigation and root cause analysis
  • Knowledge and understanding of testing of software installations on Windows environments
  • Previous experience in understanding areas of concern with respect to software installation and configuration
  • Web Technologies (eg OData, HTTP, TLS, and REST)
  • Testing and deployment of software on Windows 10 and Server 2016
  • Artefact organisation, storage & retrieval in (or equivalent)
