IBM Systems Programmer - IBM z Mainframe (Banking)

Our client, a global supplier for IT services, requires an experienced IBM Systems Programmer (Z Mainframe), to join the Infrastructure Engineering team in their clients' office in Swindon.

This is 12 months temporary contract, to start on 1st of February. Remote work may be possible until covid abates,

The right candidate will be responsible for build and upgrade the Z Systems infrastructure across the whole landscape of environments from test, development to production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To build and upgrade the z Systems infrastructure across the whole landscape of environments from test, development to production. You will do this with customer experience, availability, security and simplification as cornerstones to implementation.
  • You will be involved at each stage from design through to delivery
  • As part of the Infrastructure Engineering team, you'll provide the skills to improve and upgrade the infrastructure that underpins the core banking platform
  • Working closely with the IT Support teams and other Engineering teams, you will be ensuring that the systems are built to be stable, available, up to date and running as effectively and efficiently as possible

Key Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience of implementing IBM z System hardware and z/OS infrastructure in a data sharing environment
  • Good knowledge across IBM z, z/OS and Parallel Sysplex, ideally including but not limited to IBM z Mainframe hardware, HMC, TSO/ISPF, JCL, SMP/E, HCD, NetView and System Automation
  • Knowledge and skills covering performance & capacity analysis, RACF and zSecure, zVM, Linux on z, GDPS, DS8K hardware
  • Knowledge of SAP on IBM would be advantageous
  • You must be a team player, ready and eager to bring these talents to a stimulating and rewarding role
