Role: Risk Manager

Contract Length: 6 months

Location: Work from home

IR35: Outside

Rate: up to £580/day (Ltd)

Security Clearance: SC Clearance (Must be active - used in the last 12 months)

The Role:

The Risk Manager is responsible for the Programme RAID log, managing and resolving the Programme's Risks and Issues, whilst working with the team to ensure all Assumptions and Dependencies are monitored and managed. The Risk Manager will also perform What-if' modelling using the planning tool to ensure all potential risks and issues are profiled.

The Risk Manager will also identify and track FCDO Portfolio dependencies, ensuring that the Hera Programme is a clear stakeholder in Portfolio discussions and that any deviances to the delivery of these dependencies is tracked and managed to ensure Hera delivery is not impacted.

The role holder is expected to proactively identify from the plan and programme meetings, candidates for the RAID log ensuring everything is captured and proactively resolved.

The Risk Manager will provide advice to the senior programme team, ensuring that any escalations required are effectively managed. They will proactively take ownership to manage resolutions, escalations and ensuring potential solutions are identified, prioritised and delivered.

The role holder is also responsible for capturing and managing the full list of RAID items logged, including:

  • Decisions
  • Actions
  • Lessons Learnt
  • Opportunities
  • RACI Matrix
  • RAID

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide guidance at all levels on the application of risk management process and formal requirements for corporate governance. Maintain the Corporate risk register and ensure quarterly review of Corporate Risks; reporting in line with formal requirements for effective internal control. Monitor quarterly review of Divisional risks; ensuring quality and consistency of approach across the business; ensure risks and their potential impact are accurately defined and assessed; and that appropriate mitigation plans are actively managed and reviewed for effectiveness. Work with Programme Office to improve quality of Project and Programme Risk Management activity. Ensure two- way communication of key risks to inform business decision making. Facilitate risk identification workshops as required to assist identification of business risk. Provide guidance and support to planning officers in their role as divisional risk-coordinator. Identify Risk Management skills gaps for identified individuals and facilitate appropriate training.

Experience required:

  • Prior experience managing RAID in a large complex programme
  • Ability to understand complex programme plans and identify trends leading to risks and issues
  • Demonstrable experience of proximity RAID management
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Ability to present at senior level

Desirable

  • Prior experience of ERP Implementations
  • Prior experience of Global implementations
