About the Role

A large Irish Semi-State company headquartered in Central Dublin is looking for a Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to join their IT Operations team on a 6-month contract.

The Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer will play a key role in migrating the company's existing server infrastructure to the Cloud and help with the upskilling of staff in Azure management skills.

The current server environment consists of 900 (mostly Windows) Servers, spread across two Dublin data centres. 80% of these Servers are VMware VMs, and over the coming months our aim is to begin migrating VMs to the Azure cloud. We are also looking to adopt a cloud-first approach for new services as soon as the cloud environment is established.

This is with a dynamic working environment, generous renumeration rates and an easily accessible location in Dublin City Centre, these roles are great Opportunity for ambitious engineers looking to develop their cloud experience on a large-scale, government backed project.

Until Covid 19 restrictions are eased the role will be remote, but therefater a requirement to be onsite 1-2 days a week may apply.

Responsibilities of role

The Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to be able to deliver technically, provide in-depth troubleshooting with 3rd parties AND provide recommendations on Azure solutions/technologies through:

Project work relating to configuring Azure resources, AAD and other Azure services

Providing insights that will assist in the formulation of a robust cloud strategy, including options for high-availability, DR, backups, and cost-efficient practices

Helping to identify the Servers and applications that are prime candidates for migration to the cloud

Planning and completing migrations as required, ensuring that downtime is kept to a minimum

Troubleshooting and resolving migration and cloud-related issues (eg permissions, connectivity and performance)

Assist as required with other day-to-day Operations tasks (such as backups, patching and upgrades) and troubleshooting of the on-premise Windows infrastructure

Essential Candidate Requirements

Candidates MUST HAVE demonstratable experience with:

o Bastion

o Application Gateway and Azure Front Door

o Implementation and troubleshooting

o WAF rules and troubleshooting

o ARM template and PowerShell design and deployment

o Cosmos DB

o Web and Function Apps

o Logic Apps

o Kubernetes

o Monitoring

o Key Vault

o Service Bus

Þ While not essential, experience with the following would be beneficial:

o Istio

o Dell Boomi

o DevOps

Þ In addition, candidates should also have:

o A Third Level qualification in Computer Science, IT or relevant equivalent

o 3-5 years' (Minimum) experience working in a medium/large scale Azure cloud environment, including Office 365 and Azure Active Directory

o Certification - Microsoft Azure, Server, VMware are preferable

o Azure Training & Mentoring - Candidates should be able to train and upskill existing staff on all aspects of Azure Maintenance/Management
