An excellent opportunity to work for a leading IT company who are looking for a Desktop Security Engineer to work in Cambridge for a 12 month initial contract.

In this position you will be responsible for administering customer systems, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving technical customer issues. You will also be responsible for analyzing security threats, administrating security consoles, and providing remediation efforts. You will be responsible for managing a global client base.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead troubleshooting sessions with customers to debug complex hardware, Windows OS and application level issues.
  • Leverage multiple management platforms to proactively manage customers security.
  • Provide remediation steps to the customer to fix performance, security, availability and capacity issues. Provide recommendation to avoid future failures and poor device performance.
  • Understand the customer's requirements and goals and apply current technology trends to help the customer achieve it.
  • Work with different groups within HP to provide the best solutions to the customer.
  • Write scripts and develop remediation workflows to support the customer.
  • Stay current on, and maintain an in-depth knowledge of operating systems, hardware systems, peripheral products, modern PC management tools and security specific topics.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures for delivery.

Knowledge and Skills:

The following skillsets are required to be successful in this position:

Advanced level experience with Personal Computers, deep knowledge of:

  • Enterprise end point security management experience is a must. Symantec, Sophos, TrendMicro etc...
  • High level of understanding what malware is and how it behaves.
  • High level of understanding on security risks which customers face daily.
  • High level of understanding what tools and tactics companies employ to prevent breaches.
  • You need to have worked on the operational security team of some kind. SOC, Cyber team etc.
  • High level of understanding what end point protection is and how its configured.
  • High level of understanding what a SIEM is and what correlated events are for.
  • Understand PC performance as it pertains to hardware and software applications.
  • Know technically how to troubleshoot errors to resolution.
  • Deep technical knowledge to troubleshoot, debug, analyze and root cause PC issues.
  • Experience managing security solutions in an environment consisting of at least 1000 computers.

Programming and Scripting Skills

  • Experience with Windows PowerShell, Batch Scripting, VBscript and/or other Scripting languages required.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of Desktop Support experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing security tools within a company of at least 1000 computers.
  • 3+ years of experience being in a role that requires a high level of detail and responsibility related to IT Security.
  • Must have current industry standard best practice security certificates.
