Data Security Expert/Specialist (Freelance) - Banking Client - Brussels

Duration: 1 year freelance contractor

Rate: €800 - €900 per day

*The role will start off remote however you must be happy to be based and work in Brussels when travel is allowed*

Data Security Specialist

  • Our technical teams deliver new IT solutions and improve existing applications for both our internal and external clients.
  • We deploy changes into the production environment in a controlled and structured way that does not compromise production stability and we ensure applicative production support.
  • Our non-technical people maintain the maturity of the IT project delivery with appropriate controls in line with the group's risk appetite and reducing development and running costs.
  • Within the GDC Division, the Data Services team supports the needs on data science from all the entities of the Group.
  • As a competency centre for analytics, the team helps to transform data into insight using techniques such as text mining, process mining, network analytics or predictive modelling.
  • In the context of a Data & Analytics Platform, a data security specialist is required for the implementation of security policies.
  • He/she will fulfil an operational role to ensure a wide range of data security topics are being addressed.

Required skill set

DATA PROTECTION
. Understanding of distributed data technologies and computational model
. Knowledge of the data governance tools used at the bank (Collibra, Atlas)
. Encryption technologies (eg, data at rest, data in transit)
. Practical knowledge of data masking and anonymization techniques
. Understanding of personal data management (GDPR)
. Ability to coordinate data security activities linked to data transfers like ingestion

ACCESS CONTROL & SECURITY INCIDENT MANAGEMENT
. Ranger for authorization
. Active Directory, Kerberos for authentication
. Understanding of key risks of data leakage, loss of integrity, cyber-attacks, etc.

SECURE DEVELOPMENT LIFECYCLE
. Knowledge of information asset security policies
. Basic programming skills and knowledge of proper coding practices
. Familiar with service level agreement frameworks

Key activities
DATA PROTECTION
. Perform, in coordination with Group Digital Capabilities (GDC) division, the CIA analyses for a new use case (eg, new datasets, new analytical applications) including assessment of fine-grained confidentiality level (eg, per data subset); be responsible for guaranteeing that the confidentiality level are consistent (derivation) and inherited; evaluate and monitor data replication strategies (eg, back-ups, replication from development to production environments)
. Make classification information easily accessible (eg, Atlas and Collibra metadata)
. Ensure proper documented lineage is existing
. Assess and supervise the implementation of encryption for certain datasets when required; ensure management of encryption keys, participate in the development of data masking and anonymization practices
. Ensure that personal data in applications are dealt with the relevant controls (GDPR)
. Assess and monitor the security of data transfers from operational to analytics systems as well as transfer of processed data outside the Analytics Platform and ensure proper implementation of reverse-Proxy and Firewalls to ensure boundary defense
