Security Manager - Telecoms (strategic & operational)

Overview

We have been a recruitment partner and supplier of many great people to our client for the past 8 years, they are a highly respected and innovative Global Telecoms provider, who have previously been in the Times Top 100 companies to work for. They are seeking an experienced Telecoms focussed Security Manager for 12 months+ to act as the company's expert and advocate of Operational Security processes and procedures, ensuring that security risks are identified, managed, and addressed. There is a real chance here to deliver from the bottom up on their new and future security strategies and governance utilising your experience, knowledge and professional guidance.

Experience & Responsibilities

  • Qualification, design and safe implementation of cyber security solutions within our clients network, ensuring solutions adhere to relevant compliancy standards, and provide value for money.
  • Oversight of all security patching activities
  • Identification of Security Threats and Vulnerabilities that may impact our client
  • Management of security risks, threats and vulnerabilities
  • Demonstrates ability to research and develop new vendor, or leverage existing vendor relationships to deliver innovative and successful solutions
  • Solutions or programme initiatives that add value to our client through improving their ability to identify, protect, detect, respond and or recover from security events
  • Quality, security and performance audits successful with accreditation to ISO 27001:2013
  • Audits are proactive and documented with reviews identifying specific outcomes for re-dress
  • Cyber security events are detected, understood and their impact minimised, allowing our client to protect its brand and network
  • You will be responsible for the planning and execution of any required vulnerability audits, penetration tests, risk and threat assessments.
  • You will provide technical security advice and support to the operational teams within the company and ensure compliance with Security Polices and Standards.
  • You will drive the implementation, adherence to and evolution of our clients cyber security eco-system in line with recognised industry standards and their own security requirements.
  • You will ensure compliance of operational practices and project solutions and provide expert knowledge on cyber security issues and systems.
  • You will be responsible for reporting to the Delivery and Operation Leadership team on current security status, risks and actions and ensure actions are addressed in compliance with defined process and procedures.

Internal interactions include: Managers and Heads of Department, Lead operational staff.

External interactions include: Government, Consultants, Customers, Contractors and Suppliers as required; Service Partners.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10+ years in IT
  • 5+ years in Cyber Security
  • 2+ years security in a Telecoms environment (preferably Telecoms operator)
  • Security recognised certification (CISSP, CISA, CISM, CEH, ISO27001 Auditor)
  • Prince 2 or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of EU, UK and Data Protection laws
  • End Point protection software
  • Mobile device management
  • Server Hardware and Enterprise Operating Systems

Personal requirements:

  • Willing to relocate to one of the British Crown dependent Islands off the UK mainland, there are currently NO lockdown restrictions, so life is very normal and everything is open.
  • There will unfortunately be a two week quarantine period on arrival, this will either be in an apartment or cottage and will be paid for and you will be able to work remotely from here, whilst getting up to speed, food and provisions will be dropped in. Hopefully this requirement will be lifted in the next 2-3 months.

Company & location:

To protect our client's identity we haven't disclosed the actual location, but it is within one of the British crown dependent islands of Jersey, Isle of Man or Guernsey. We will reveal all the details upon receipt of your CV and a further conversation. IR35: This will be an offshore delivery based assignment with deliverables around shaping our clients strategy in the security space and you will be provided with a Project based assignment, this will be in line with Mutuality of Obligations and outside the IR35 scope of being a disguised employee. So this will put you outside IR35.
