Scala Developer
6 Month Rolling Contract
London (wfh when in the office)
UpTo £619 pwd via Umbrella Company
Tech Stack: Scala, JVM, Spark, Kafka
Reporting developer resources required to support with delivery of data demand under the Road to Recovery Programme.
This role is to work alongside 2 development teams to help with the integration of Azure, the candidate will be responsible for development and testing.
Responsibility:
- Maintain existing components and develop new features.
- Work with other developers to determine best solution.
- Work with Run team to support release of new versions
Essential Skills and Experience:
- The primary language is Scala but we will consider candidates with background in any JVM language willing to work with Scala
- Good understanding of computer science fundamentals including data structure, design patterns
- Good understanding of multi-threaded programming and distributed computing
- Good understanding of application life cycle, DevOps practices, CI/CD
- Good approach to writing unit and integration tests
- Ability to spot issues in code and help fix them
- You will have worked with
Hadoop ecosystem: Spark:
- A good understanding of how Spark and Spark SQL work.
- Understanding Spark internals is a nice to have (desirable)
- HDFS
- Comfortable with basic operations with and without Spark
- At least basic understanding
Kafka:
- Comfortable with Kafka architecture and fundamentals
- Akka/Akka streams (desirable)
