Description

The key projects of the assignment will include setting up new databases on Xero and new reporting and automating processes. In addition to this the day to day will include:

External Reporting

Prepare statutory accounts of UK and overseas subsidiaries in liaison with external accountants. (Audit requirement is two years away).

Internal Reporting

Produce monthly Group consolidation and management accounts - forecast and actual.

Board pack preparation.

Oversight of sales reporting.

Tax compliance and planning

Produce tax returns for UK and overseas companies in liaison with tax advisers.

Prepare UK VAT return and develop custom duties knowledge.

Investors

Preparation of investor analyses, including quarterly returns to debt financier (Future Fund).

Support on future fundraising activities.

Likely projects include:

Month-end Re-work the month-end timetable, speeding up reporting and ensuring consistency of delivery.

MI Introduce and improve management information for the Board, management team, budget holders, sales and supply chain teams;

o Completely new management accounts and chart of accounts being planned for Q1 21, will help implement.

Systems Critically review all finance systems and recommend changes.

Treasury add a treasury function to manage cash, global banking relationships and FX;

o Developing robust short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts are a priority.

Purchasing Implement a purchasing policy and process.

Collaboration tools Introduce collaboration tools to enable transparency and cross-working between locations.

Resourcing and structure Resource the finance team appropriately in all locations, including recruiting new capabilities.

o FP&A resource is the likely next recruit.

Qualifications

Qualified ACA within a large firm, at least 5 years PQE in industry - essential.

University degree - desirable.

Career experience

Global & commercial in depth understanding of the financial and commercial dynamics of a global business - essential.

Sector experience Manufacturing - desirable; Shipping & distribution - desirable; SaaS - desirable.

Controls & processes Strong understanding of control. environment, business processes and systems - essential.

Tech savvy Has a data and systems approach - essential; systems implementation experience - desirable.

Group Experience of working in and running a group of companies - desirable. Experience of multi-currency consolidation - desirable.

Technical but practical Ability to apply sound judgement to accounting situations/questions - essential.

Change management Previously built/restructured a finance team and helped raise the internal capability and reputation of a finance function - desirable.

Big 4 accountancy firm trained, with technology, international or SME clients - desirable.
