Digital Science Intern

Location - Bracknell or remote

Start Date - flexible

Syngenta are a world-leading plant science company committed to promoting sustainable agriculture through innovative research and technology. In more than 90 countries around the world, their employees enable millions of farmers to improve global food security by making better, more sustainable use of available resources.

Syngenta currently have a number of Digital Science Internships available for those with a keen interest in science, technology and/or data. This is a great opportunity to gain hands on experience in an exciting R&D environment working alongside experts.

Digital science covers a wide range of skills from ensuring infrastructure has the right power, applications are providing the right tools for the job, there is access to quality data and that outputs can be understood via models or visualisations.

Within this role you will rapidly understand the challenges faced as the team strive towards creative solutions to make things "just work". You'll learn about how the team integrate cloud with on-site infrastructure and the practical issues that arise from this. Your curiosity and willingness to try things out will help the team understand what solutions work in a real-world environment and at the same time give you hands-on experience.

As part of the digital platforms team, you'll understand the needs of scientists and the research problems they are trying to solve. You'll help Syngenta design their future platforms and upgrade paths to ensure they can be used to discover future sales products.

This placement will offer the ability to work with technical, scientific and data-driven colleagues in an open and flexible environment. We'll need you to communicate well, be willing to try things out and be happy to spend time researching information. You'll also need to be comfortable with working remotely via Zoom.

In return you will be provided with training and mentoring to support your longer term personal and professional development.
