Smartsourcing are looking for an External Communications Director to work on a 6 month contract for a Public Sector client, Ideally you will have experience working within local government, this role is fully remote with excellent rates of pay per day Inside IR35.

External Communications | Stakeholders | Council Structure | Public Communications.

The role:

  • Devising and executing the comprehensive external communications plan that influences and improves public perception and behaviours
  • Influencing and shaping what external communications go into the public domain through strong personal impact
  • A trusted advisor who can be called upon and relied on by senior officials and ministers of state
  • Executing effectively through a number of comms channels including Other Government Departments, Local Councils and senior internal and external stakeholdersCriteria:
  • Experience of working in Government, with preference to Whitehall
  • Engaging stakeholders and how to work and influence within the civil service through the ministry structure and special advisors
  • Understanding of UK local council structure and how to successfully leverage central and local communications
  • Designing and delivering communication and marketing campaigns against robust ?Return on Investment? criteria
  • Extensive experience of external Public Communications, reputation management and crisis response
  • Public affairs and lobbying
