Description
TEKsystems Global Services are currently engaged with a tier 1 investment bank, looking for a Senior Java Developer which will work towards building innovative sales and trading systems.
The project will involve re-engineering one of the key Back End systems that processes trades and positions from mainly hedge clients. They receive this information from multiple inhouse systems as well as from the clients themselves, and need to validate, enrich, and consolidate them for downstream purposes eg client reporting, billing, margin & risk.
The driver behind the re-engineering effort
a) is to be able to process much higher volumes than before and
b) support new Global business use cases.
Whilst this is primarily a developer role, they do follow a DevOps model which means candidates would be expected to get involved in all parts of the development life cycle from requirements & analysis through to coding, testing, releasing and support.
Key skills:
- Strong Core Java, multi-threading, scalability, performance tuning
- Understand microservices and RESTful APIs (experience with breaking a monolith into microservices would be a bonus)
- Moderate SQL (Postgres would be a bonus, as would be any performance tuning experience)
- Tooling: comfortable with Maven, Git, Linux
- Aware of good design principles
- Cloud technology awareness/experience would be a bonus
- Be able to get things done on their own, with minimal help, but also be able to collaborate and work as part of a global team
- Continuously looking for ways to improve processes
- Curious & open minded about technology choices
- Comfortable talking directly to business users
