Power BI Developer (Business Intelligence Developer) - £450-£500 per day + benefits
Due to their ambition to extend their analytics and reporting capability, a leading client, has a vacancy for a Power Business Intelligence Developer.
The focus of this role is supporting BAU use of the assets/MIS that have been implemented and increasing the strength in depth of IT to better support my client's Intelligence (BI) teams across Europe.
You will be the vital link between our third-party support provider and the wider business community.
Reporting to the Senior Business Analyst - MI and Planning, this role has particular responsibility for supporting existing BI systems and interfaces across the business.
Responsibilities:
- Translate business needs into technical specifications
- Design, build and deploy BI solutions (eg reporting tools)
- Maintain and support data analytics platforms (eg MicroStrategy)
- Evaluate and improve existing Microsoft BI systems
- Create tools to store data (eg OLAP cubes)
- Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
- Create visualisations and reports for requested projects
- Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses
- Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
- Develop and update technical documentation
Essential requirements:
- Appropriate specialist technical qualifications for supporting, maintaining and/or developing applications
- Degree level or equivalent, preferably Information Technology or Computer Science (desirable)
- Strong data analytical skills, coupled with knowledge of how BI applications can maximise business advantage
- 3-5 years of experience in DBA
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Microsoft Power BI
- Strong experience of working with enterprise data warehouses and processes gained in an end user (ideally FMCG), consultancy or vendor environment
- Ability to take client requirements, understand them and turn them into a powerful story told through engaging visuals in Power BI
- Understanding how the full suite of Power BI products work is essential (Embedded, Reporting Services)
- Experience with Azure Cloud platform
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI and Oracle BI
- Knowledge of SQL series, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Exact, transform, load) framework
- Confident communicating with stakeholders of all levels including the ability to advise, train and support staff and clients where necessary
- Possess highly developed interpersonal skills coupled with the drive and energy to play a central role in the development of this fast paced and evolving business
Desirable
- Experience of system change projects - in SAP BW
- BPC experience
- Pan-European experience an advantage
- A desire and ability to work in a Pan-European environment is important
- Experience in design and configuration of SAP BW on HANA
- Experience of FMCG business environment
- Experience of SAP in a SOX regulated environment
- Knowledge of SAP BPC
- A good understanding of SAP integration with other modules - desirable
