Description

Agile Delivery Lead
6 months
£535 per day. Outside IR35
Remote for foreseeable. When the risk of COVID infection is eliminated or much reduced, we envision that many of the team and community activities will take place at our Edinburgh or Glasgow offices, for at least part of each week.

An experienced servant-leader with a strong IT background is required to lead a crossfunctional team to deliver constant value to customers and stakeholders using lean/agile practices.

We have made significant strides aligning our IT Development and IT Enablement capabilities with a common technical strategy in pursuit of corporate objectives. The Enablement teams provide platforms that Development teams use to develop products that support Operational colleagues in their registration work. The organisation's ambition is to have enduring teams aligned to Enablement platforms and Product Development domains ensuring ownership and the ability to safely maintain and improve the estate. As part of this vision, an IT Security and Identity team was established in 2018 to create an enduring capability to prevent, detect, and respond to threats; and to provide assurance for security services within the organisation. The team is multi-functional, covering both technical security and identity disciplines, with a strong collaborative and agile culture.
Support the team in the delivery of IT Security and Identity related roadmap initiatives, including (but not limited to) Privileged Access Management, Control of Boundary Defences, and Endpoint Monitoring and Response.

This will be done by (but not limited to):

  • Establishing a data driven approach to ITSEC workflow where estimated forecasting of outcomes is driven by logic and data insight.
  • Establish Value, Flow and Quality disciplines into the ITSEC delivery pipeline, maximising team velocity and achievements of goals, as defined by Technical Product Manager.
  • Establish core agile ceremonies within the team which are embraced and valued by the team collective, demonstrating continuous reflection and improvement.
  • Supporting the Technical Product Manager (tPM) by owning and removing delivery blockers. The objective is to enable the tPM to focus on forward thinking strategy, stakeholder engagement and feeding the delivery machine.

Additional Services

  • Collaborate with colleagues, including the Technical Product Manager and Technical Lead (Security Architect), to define, refine, prioritise, and visualise the team's roadmap and backlog, and lead the team to deliver the roadmap
  • Help to create an open and trust-based environment, which enables a focus on delivery and continuous improvement
  • Foster strong, cohesive team dynamics and relationships, based on the principles of team autonomy, mastery and purpose
  • Lead the team's delivery process to deliver value early and often, and use fast feedback and inspection to drive improvements
  • Help the team to identify and track against appropriate metrics to enable forecasting
  • Help the team balance their capacity against demand
  • Ensure the team can focus on delivering team goals by helping to remove/manage blockers, dependencies, and contention
  • Support and coach team members on the most appropriate lean/agile framework/techniques and on their role value contributions to the team, eg as Product Manager, Technical Lead, etc.
  • Facilitate team ceremonies and workshops
  • Enable and support collaboration and communication both within the team and with wider stakeholders
  • Actively participate in the agile community of practice

Essential Skills

  • Servant-leading a high-performing, continuously delivering, cross-functional development or IT operations team, possibly in a role such as Agile Coach, Scrum Master, Agile Delivery Manager or Agile Team Lead
  • Applying different agile and lean approaches and supporting context
  • Creating lasting change towards agile and lean ways of working and delivery for the better of an organisation
  • Agile product and software development using human-centred, research-driven, inclusive-design practices, and the enablers required.
  • Engagement with stakeholders, understanding context and requirements, from diverse areas of a business, including product management, service design, operations, and governance groups
  • Identification, creation, and visualisation of effective agile team metrics
  • Desirable Skill: Product development within Digital First or GDS standards
