Contract Assignment - Cloud Engineer (Kubernetes, NFV & Telco Cloud)
Reference - 12964
Day Rate - £450 - £510 per day inside of IR35
Duration - 6 months initial contract
Start Date - ASAP
Location - Remote, occasional travel once Covid lifts

*Must have a proven track record of working in Telco Cloud Installation and Operational activities, network transformation and automation programmes*
ASSIGNMENT

  • Create as built documentation, working procedures, help with developing and improving product documentation for the deployment of NFVi infrastructure based on Kubernetes deployment.
  • Implement Telco Cloud NFVi solutions and services to host vRAN and Core containerised applications within customers lab, pilot and commercial networks
  • Install, deploy, Configure and commission NFVi platforms as per design and parameters set by architecture team
  • Execute test plans needed to gain customer acceptance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in deployment and operational phases
  • Handover the solution to the operations support teams upon customer acceptance
  • Support test lab activities including site survey, physical installation, system commissioning
  • Supporting system performance evaluation and improvement during technology trials and commercial pilots
  • Identification, analysis and mitigation of issues reported from internal and customer lab and field tests
  • Software upgrades/updates of elements & preparation of MOP

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the rest of the organisation to meet deployment deadlines and service objectives
  • Perform planned work activities in line with operational & contractual requirements.
  • Create and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
  • Work with vendors and contractors to management system delivery
  • Support both Project Management teams and the Scrum team/Agile Delivery by providing technical input when required throughout the product life cycle. Depending upon experience, other duties may also be assigned by the management team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience of Containers (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Tanzu) Preferably Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG)
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver platform services following a lean methodology.
  • Experience of Automation tools such Python, Ansible and Playbook Scripting, Puppet, Salt
  • Proficient in telco cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) deployment - vCloud Director, OpenStack, OpenShift, Ceph Storage and VMware ESXi, vSphere, vSAN, NSX
  • Working integration knowledge of Management and Orchestration, FCAPS, MANO, RANDO, EMS/NMS, OSS/BSS, Zabbix
  • Deep experience of Linux systems, Openstack such as VMware integrated Openstack or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat Satellite, clustering, directory services, and identity management
  • Proficient Networking Experience - TCP/IP, Routers, Firewall, Load Balancers, DNS, Routing Protocols configuration.
  • Hands on experience in configuring network elements, Juniper, Cisco, Dell, HP, Fortinet
  • Strong hands-on skills with data centre infrastructure, hardware deployment, troubleshooting and management

Desirable Skills

  • VMware Tanzu certified
  • VMware Certified Professional VCIX
  • Knowledge in 4G and 5G Radio network architecture and ecosystem
  • Knowledge in Radio Access Network (RAN) and RAN virtualization
  • RAN Technologies (vRAN, Small Cells, MIMO, Timing and Sync with GPS, PTP)
  • Knowledge of O-RAN specs, TIP/OpenRAN projects
