Network Engineer, Investment Manager

12 month contract, up to £600 per day, inside IR35.

My client is a leading Investment Management business looking to hire an experienced Network Engineer, supporting the network infrastructure for a growing business.

To provide support for the planning, installation, security, problem analysis and maintenance of the company Infrastructure with particular attention to networking technologies including Switches, Routers, telephony, Firewalls, Proxy devices and security appliances.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Implementation of system upgrades (hardware and software), system documentation, daily administration and problem resolution.
  • Ongoing network technology skills development with appropriate knowledge transfer to other members of the Infrastructure teams.
  • Monitoring and capacity planning. Planning and implementing changes and developments.
  • Ensuring that agreed service standards are met and instigate appropriate escalation procedures where they are not.
  • Providing an escalation point for other members of the team, and also the rest of IT.
  • Liaising with other technical areas and suppliers in order to resolve issues
  • Acting as a resource on projects were appropriate
  • Liaising with security teams for vulnerability management

On-call rota and weekend Support when required

The client requires an experienced Network Engineer ideally with good experience in Financial Services and the tech stack below.-

Technology Experience:

Essential:

  • Strong Cisco/Brocade switch and Router knowledge
  • Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
  • Strong Firewall knowledge preferably Checkpoint/Fortinet/Palo Alto
  • Web Proxy knowledge preferably Bluecoat and F5 WAF (ASM/LTM)
  • Cisco Call Manager (and general VOIP technologies)
  • Experience in dealing with providers such as Bloomberg and Reuters and in supporting the services they deliver

The following skills are highly desirable

  • Knowledge on F5 systems eg LTM/ASM
  • Third party network monitoring tools eg WhatsUp Gold
  • ServiceNow
  • Tufin SecureTrack

The following skills would also be attractive

  • Electronic faxing solutions eg RightFax
  • Dealerboard knowledge eg IPC
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Process design and implementation
  • Understanding of project life-cycles
  • Understanding of network security principles
  • SDWAN
  • MS Azure
  • RSA Archer
