My client continues to grow its global business and has reached the point where the creation of a Data Governance function has become necessary.
They are seeking an individual to be the change leader' and to lead the creation of a new global role - Data Governance Officer - reporting to the Head of IT, EMEA & APAC.
As the successful candidate you will be required to demonstrate a high level of Data Governance domain expertise gained through both formal training and from experience of working in a Data Governance Function, preferably within a Fixed Income domain, or within a Regulated Financial Services organisation. Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills, and demonstrable executive presence are required, as is an in-depth knowledge of tools and processes pertinent to the creation of this important function.
Knowledge/Experience
- A demonstrable track record of successful Data Governance work in Financial Services.
- Experience and knowledge of the EU GDPR regime and other global data regulations.
- Experience working in an organisation with a hybrid-cloud IT Infrastructure.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with executive presence'.
- Strong attention to details and technicalities.
- Excellent organizational and technical skills.
- Good interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
Key responsibilities shall include.
- Creating and institutionalising a comprehensive Data Governance approach across the firm:
- Collaborating with other stakeholders to establish Data Inventories for Product, Customer & Employee Data.
- Establishing and maturing a Data Quality Measurement framework.
- Establishing and maturing frameworks to ensure that Data Lifecycles are transparent and visible to stakeholders, including clients where applicable.
- Establishing and maturing frameworks to ensure compliance with applicable Regulatory requirements (eg, Data Lineage).
- Establishing and maturing frameworks to ensure effective protection of Intellectual Property and mitigate associated risks.
- Define the Organisational roles needed for effective execution of the programme.
- Establishing a Data Management Maturity (DMM) framework to monitor the firm's progress.
- Creating and institutionalising a comprehensive Data Standards Framework:
- Data Classifications for all Enterprise Data, Data Provisioning, Metadata, Data Quality
- Work with 2nd line teams (compliance, infosec, risk) to define and implement controls around eg data discovery, classification, protection and destruction, managing their effectiveness and monitoring metrics/indicators.
- Creating Data Governance Policies as necessary
- Creation and delivery of training/workshops to educate & inform.
- Providing programme roadmaps and status reports to stakeholders
