Job Title: Solution Architect Warehouse Management

Reporting to: Head of Architecture

Location: Stockley Park and Donnington

Key Skills/Knowledge:

  • Solutions Architecture
  • On critical strategic initiatives, responsible for defining end to end solution architecture for the product
  • On all initiatives, accountable for the quality of the solution delivered by the architecture team and ensuring that architect is a partner in the process from beginning to end
  • Assessment of new requests into the Warehouse Technology portfolio, overseeing exploration, cataloguing of options and presentation back to key stakeholders
  • Provide architecture assurance for the product team to ensure the proposed architecture is implemented as per the requirements - ensure the solution supports Business, Functional and Non-Functional requirements including security considerations
    • Technology Planning & Roadmaps:
  • Work with the Principal architect to contribute to the development and communication of the Warehousing technology plan and roadmap
  • Own the process of cataloguing existing technologies, have the understanding of costs to buy and run, obsolescence and identifying technology gaps
  • Catalogue and communicate key design decisions and tech debt, ensuring that work to remediate tactical decisions are considered within the PI planning process
    • Patterns and Practices
  • Work with the Principal Architects, Lead Software Engineers, Architects within the team, Capability owners and Security to maintain Principles, Standards and Practices for the portfolio, ensuring they consider and are aligned to the wider Technology Principles Standards and Practices
  • Write, Contribute to and Guide the delivery of Architectural Epics that will help evolve the IT landscape
  • Gather market place and industry intelligence from internal and external sources to guide our definitions and best practices
    • Innovation
  • Stay abreast of new and cutting edge technologies available for warehousing/retail
  • Pragmatically assess new technologies and understand their relevance to M&S, and able to explain their relevance to stakeholders in a relatable way
  • Be a focal point for innovative new technologies being explored within M&S, TCS, other key technology partners and elsewhere
  • Ensure that M&S's voice is heard in the evolution of new technologies by TCS and other technology partners
  • Partner with the TCS CoEs and other teams to rapidly explore technologies of interest and assist in the implementation of POCs where appropriate
    • Team and People
  • Nurture and motivate the team to deliver excellence for Marks and Spencer
  • Ensure your team are developing their skills and careers and provide guidance on appropriate career tracks
  • Experience required:

    Essential:

    • In-depth knowledge in Supply Chain Warehouse management systems including integration with automations
    • Strong experience in designing and delivering solutions for Supply Chain, Distribution, Warehouse Operations
    • Extensive experience in designing and implementing JDA (RedPrairie/Dispatcher) WMS
    • WMS/WCS integration and specialism
    • Communicate solution approaches to business and project teams and other senior client stakeholders
    • Team Leadership, experience including; line management, resource planning, coaching and mentoring
    • Good communication skills with the persona to build relationships with business colleagues and communicate on business terms. Confident in leading discussions on technology strategy, influencing stakeholders having gained their respect and trust
    • Strong architecture experience, preferably TOGAF certified
    • Exposure to Agile delivery

    Desirable:

    • Exposure to Warehouse/Supply Chain and logistics Business will be beneficial
    • Experience in Cloud applications architecture, Cloud migration
    • Commercial acumen
    • Appreciation of recent digital trends and emerging technologies
    • Ability to work under pressure, handle complex change and prioritise key activities
    • Analytical and decision making skills
