Duties • Systems Engineering and operational support on 3rd Level with a focus on network infrastructure and software• Analyses and specifies technical requirements for network infrastructure and components
• Consults regarding existing IT services/components
• Performs technical feasibility checks for new proposed solutions
• Designs network, telecommunications and network security infrastructure concepts and solutions
• Defines operational concepts for new proposed solution
• Implements, tests and documents network, telecommunications and network security infrastructure concepts and solutions
• Configures and optimizes network servers, hubs, routers, and switches
• Monitors network capacity and resolves network problems
• Estimates and calculates costs depending on service-components
• Contributes to system architecture regarding infrastructure and operations aspects
• Infrastructure Lifecycle Management for integrated infrastructure components
• Technical Capacity, Security, Performance monitoring and management
• Automation of administrative system engineering tasks
• Works as Project Lead for network infrastructure projects
• Observes technology trends and integrates them with upcoming solutions
Manages the relationship with telephony providers. Takes over project management responsibilities for telephony related projects. Has prior experience is establishing communications systems by programming voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment.
• Manage, supervise and provide technical advice on telecommunications systems
• Oversee and coordinate telecommunications activities and projects
• Evaluate provider and systems performance level and challenge providers to improve capabilities as needed
• Maintains customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns; answering questions.
• Maintains safe work environment by following standards and policies.
• Ensures providers maintain an up to date documentation of configuration diagrams and programming.
• Supports the providers in the planning of network installations by studying technical specifications; and reviewing providers technical schematics.
• Ensures proper knowledge transfer to new providers
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

Proven work experience as a Telecommunications Specialist
• Knowledge of network architectures, configurations, protocols, and interfaces (e.g. TCP/IP, routing, switching, QoS, etc.)
• Knowledge of network connectivity for physical and virtualized servers and Storage Area Network (SAN)
• Basic knowledge of Cloud Design Patterns (e.g. Hybrid Cloud)
