Our client is a global consultancy that's looking for a Data Virtualization/Denodo Developer for their large public sector end-client. They're looking for someone to join one of their esteemed clients on an initial 6-month contract in an entirely remote position.
Job Description:
* Denodo/Data Virtualization Developer who is looking for new challenges and opportunities
* The ideal candidate will have strong Denodo Database Virtualization skills coupled with current experience in Data Integration, ETL, web services, microservice architecture, and related technologies and have a strong understanding of data structures and cloud technologies primarily AWS.
* The developer will be required to work in a team environment and will be responsible for full life cycle software development including new development, design/architecture, and implementation of data virtualization service solutions using Denodo.
Key Responsibilities:
* Actively participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming and task estimation.
* Elaboration of user stories (technical and functional) into design sketches and coding tasks.
* Responsible for the quality implementation (supportable, maintainable, scalable and secure) of code, which includes unit testing.
* Influence the design and technology stack and technical direction of the team.
* Working closely with the quality assurance team (technical testers) to identify risks and to support the development of complex test scripts.
* Ensure that the status of agile tickets worked on is updated promptly and highlight blockers in time to get them resolved.
Required Skills:
* Denodo DV (VDP, ITPilot, Catalog)
* Connecting to different data sources: Flat files, RDBMS, Redshift, Web Services (APIs), Cloudera CDH etc.
* Developing Data Virtualization transformations
* Knowledge of VQL
* Performance Optimization techniques - Caching
* Experience in developing a detailed technical design to create a high-level technical solution and work with the architecture team to develop estimates
* Data profiling and source-to-target mapping (including complex business rules)
* Review the business requirements and perform impact analysis in existing applications through code and data analysis to create the impact analysis
* Execute appropriate changes as directed by the application manager and recheck the transformations to ensure that the desired results/defect fixes are produced.
* Unit test and deploy components and miscellaneous technical components as directed.
* Review and integrate the technical architecture requirements.
* Participate in Data Virtualization Technical reviews
* Demonstrated experience interacting with all levels of technical and business stakeholders.
* Prior experience with ETL tools Talend and Pentaho Data Integrator will be nice to have.
* Prior experience of writing SQL queries is desirable
