Our financial services client is currently seeking an experienced Risk and Governance Analyst to join their team in the London office.

Role Purpose:

This is a key position contributing towards supporting our clients CMB Business Banking vision to be the Global SME bank of choice. Within GCMB they are leveraging their size and strength and investing in their digital capabilities to simplify how they do business for their SME clients and create a step change in cost to serve. Our financial services client is building a world-class organization capable of high-paced, end-to-end transformation centred around their customers. A critical element of achieving their goal is to enhance the Digital Service offering available to our customers; with a key focus on our primary digital channels; Internet Banking and Mobile.

As a GCB5 Risk and Governance Analyst, your role will be pivotal in supporting the delivery of projects in a safe way to improve our client experience for Business Banking Markets primarily in the UK. This position is responsible for leading risk analysis and management of risks and issues for live products and changes and new features/services that deliver enhancements to their Desktop and Mobile propositions for SME Business Banking customers. As a risk and governance analyst with a heavy digital focus, you will be involved in various deliverables including scoping, discovery and documentation of items such as risks, issues, risk acceptances, product governance, sales suitability, customer outcomes, and more.

In this role, you will:

  • Be a subject matter expert for items such as risk frameworks and key policies
  • Be willing to share knowledge and be transparent and engaging so they can build a risk aware team
  • Be able to flex between big picture thinking and detailed attention based on the need
  • Be able to build strong proactive networks both within the team and with the wider bank
  • A deep understanding of agile yet an ability to be structured and detailed
  • Support the team in creating artefacts such as key risk documents, audit responses etc.
  • Be able to explain complex items in a simple yet articulate manner
  • Be able to handle day-to-day risk management such as weekly meetings, recording and oversight
  • Be able to flex based on the requirement eg support product governance, third-party management, etc.
  • Facilitate small workshops if required eg key risk assessment sessions.
  • Be focused on simplifying risk management for the wider business
  • Have a high-level understanding of UK regulators and key regulations

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience of Jira/Confluence or Helios is essential
  • Understanding of governance/risk/risk framework is essential
  • Understanding of digital and technology is essential
  • Experience of having worked in projects involving a wide range of stakeholders from all lines of defence such as business, compliance and audit is desirable
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people with a hands-on, collaborative approach
  • A good understanding of process, risk and controls and how they affect one another
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations and drive effective results
  • A good understanding of the complexities of working across multiple business areas
  • A desire to champion a strong risk ethic and digital innovation across the organization
  • Experience working in relevant market/context ie Internet Banking/Mobile and/or Digital within Financial Services is desirable
  • Past working experience of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to a wide and varied audience
  • Built effective networks both internally and externally and created opportunities for others to work collaboratively
  • Dealt effectively with highly complex commercial information and business challenges to create strategic business plans which effectively deliver results
  • The ability to understand and interpret financial data

Availability to undertake travel required for this role, potentially including overseas travel
