Data Migration Lead: Global Energy Company

A World Leading Energy Company has a new exciting opportunity for a Data Migration Lead to join their global Data Migrations team.

Job Responsibilities:

o Would define and communicate the data migration methodology, eg big bang or double maintenance or phased delta.
o Able to plan and manage the data migration - e2e understanding of all steps necessary to migrate data from source to target for each market.
o Understand all the dependencies and implications of chosen approach and manage the risks around these.
o Identifying the data migration impact of any proposed changes or customisations.
o Would work with the Business SME's to ensure that the data is of the correct quality and execute any plans to address improved data quality requirements, cleansed to meet business and system requirements eg mandatory fields, relationships, correct format eg "YYYY-MM-DD".
o Ensure that the business data focal points are engaged when necessary to make decisions and manage escalations.
o Main point of liaison between the Target System SMEs and the Business Data SMEs.
o Ensure that all data migrations activities are tracked with the deadlines.
o Ensure data migration activities are aligned with overall plan. Liaise with Technical Data Migration Specialist to confirm migration plan timescales remain achievable.
o Ensure that the right tools and skills are available to perform the migration.
o Accountable for data mappings and ensuring that all mappings are accurate and complete.
o Coordination of all data migration activities including analysis, mapping and transfer.
o Ensure robust process of audit, reconciliation, error detection and remediation.
o Accountable for managing the actual execution of the data migration
o Liaising with the Technical SME and Target System Data Migration Lead to oversee the data extraction and validation scripts, ensuring compliance to agreed structures and business rules, managing the resolution of any deviations.
o Accountable for data migration validation and business signoff - reconciliation and reporting are baked into process
o Ensuring that the data in target system is aligned with regulatory requirements.
o Liaising with all impacted stakeholders (process owners, business users, data owners etc)
o Working with the Data Architect to review the impact of and resolve where necessary destination data gaps.

Skills and Experience Required:

- Must have worked on similar Large Data Migration Projects in the past, ideally using Azure/Cloud Technologies
- Previous experience within the Energy or Commodity Trading sector would be beneficial

This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
