The Role

Day Rate Contract € p/d

As a leading Payment Solution provider both in Ireland and Europe processing almost 1 billion payment transactions per year across multiple international currencies and jurisdictions. We offer state-of-the-art payment acquiring platforms, POS systems and eCommerce solutions to support the evolving needs of Merchants, Merchant Service Providers and Payment Facilitators.

In support of the needs of our growing business we are hiring a Senior SQL Server Data Warehouse DBA who will be responsible for our Database platform development and support.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyse business and technical requirements, as well as data warehouse data models, to understand the detailed data management requirements.
Lead the data architecture design and planning as the subject-matter expert for the physical structure and implementation of data warehouses and data marts. This would include providing specifics for hardware layout and system settings (eg, disk configuration, memory settings, and data page or tablespace definitions) and planning and creating databases.
Administering, maintaining, developing and recommending policies and procedures for ensuring the performance, availability, security and integrity of the company's databases and systems.
Set up new environments; install & configure software, build databases, create start/stop scripts, schedule jobs, etc.
Identify, design and implement ETL solutions for extraction and integration of data to and from data warehouses and data marts for the purposes of reporting, decision support and analysis.
Architect solutions to help implement the physical data model for the development and/or production environments.
Design, document and build physical database environments from table, column, index and view definitions to storage requirements and drive spacing and growth accommodations.
Performing regular deployments, scheduled maintenance and housekeeping.
Work with business and analysts and solution architects to identify, design and implement custom user interface programs for data management and extraction purposes.
Manage, monitor and administer database and system performance. Including optimization and tuning of data loads, extractions and recommending appropriate procedure, query or package changes and optimizations to ensure and improve system performance and reliability.
Manage job and activity schedules to promote optimal performance, maximum availability and minimize data latency and data load durations.
Lead the design, planning and implementation of approved large-scale Database platform technology migration and upgrade programmes.

Qualifications & Requirements

Should have a BS preferably in the area of computer science or related qualification.
Motivated leader and self-starter personality; must be able to lead and work independently of supervision but be a willing and contributing participant on cross-organisational projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and willingness to act as team player; sharing information willingly and accurately.
Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
Understanding of Business Intelligence concepts as well as accounting/finance knowledge in the payments industry is preferred.
Extensive experience in SQL Server database administration in a Windows server environment required; with Microsoft DBA certification preferred.
Five plus years of data warehousing and Business Intelligence experience.
Expertise working with high volume, partitioned data databases; with performance tuning and development skills; and a strong knowledge of Data Warehousing methodologies and concepts is required.
Expertise in sizing, capacity planning, SSIS with data warehouse solutions in SQL Server or Oracle environment is required.
Must have experience with SQL server high availability and disaster recovery implementations.
An expertise in MS SQL Server data warehousing and data mining concepts including but not limited to: star schemas, snowflakes, ETL processes, dimensional modelling and reporting tools is needed.
Demonstrated previous experience with large-scale, complex database migration and/or upgrade projects.
Knowledge and experience of AWS Platforms and Databases services.
