Data Valuation Analyst
Job Summary:
Data is a critical business asset for any organization and today we invests heavily in company, financial, economic, news and specialist data - sourced from a wide range of external providers.
Our client is looking for an experienced valuation analyst able to develop new ways of measuring data's value, performance and ROI to inform its data strategy and investments. This will contribute to funding decisions for new and existing data assets based on a 'total value to the business approach - financial and operational.
This role will suit a highly data-literate, creative thinker and problem solver - someone able to design a data valuation model that will transform how commercial decisions are made. They should have a thirst for learning new and established ways to achieve this, able to navigate the complexities of the systems and develop a roadmap to deliver and advance data ROI and investment analysis.
A background in using external data sources and data science is desired but not essential.
Scope of the project:
Responsible for performance measurement, reporting and insights of a data portfolio, this role will:
- Develop an advanced data valuation model used to measure data investments and ROI
- Establish methods to track the performance of a portfolio of data assets - financial and operational KPIs including business impact, customer satisfaction, efficiency, cost optimization
- Leverage and develop competitive and benchmarking analysis where useful to bring deeper insights to the decision-making process.
- Establish the reporting process for data asset performance ie analysis reports, scorecards and dashboards
- Ensure methods are in place to gather, process and analyse data from a wide range of sources working across the teams' teams and with different data owners
- Deliver a roadmap for advancing the data valuation model with a clear plan for development
- Hands on experience with data analytical tools like Python, SQL, Power Bi as well as project management tools and the Microsoft Office suite. Ensures systems and processes are in place to capture and disseminate intelligence across priority stakeholder groups.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Experienced professional able to translate business needs into data analytics requirements, and deliver against them
- Able to identify trends and insights from data, by applying mathematical models and techniques to investigate complex data
- Data handling - structured eg excel, csv, user feedback, behaviour, website usage, financial data; unstructured eg news, topics, business case documents, contract documents to extract data from to structure
- Financial literacy and commercial acumen
- Ability to quickly analyse issues, develop solutions and effectively communicate recommendations
- Outstanding problem-solving and critical thinking
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Results driven and delivery focused
- Able to develop a compelling data-driven business case
Technical skills
- Financial, valuation modelling and benchmarking
- Experience in Data Analytics
- Understanding of statistical concepts like Regression, Random Forest, SVM etc...
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Minimal direct management of colleagues however works with teams across multiple functions and geographies.
- Regular supervision from Data Strategy Leader, expected to work and act independently.
Other Requirements:
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal required.
- Limited travel expected.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Research, analysis, STEM, computer science or technology related degree
- Advanced degree is preferred but not essential
Experience:
- Data, analysis and modelling
- Experience in a professional services firm
