Product Designer - retail - remote
Our retail client are looking for a Product Designer to join them for an initial 12 week contract.
As a Product Designer within Home Improvement, you will interrogate the challenges posed by developing and evolving our digital touchpoints, and successfully ideate and produce a variety of designs that meet the audience need.
You have a great eye for detail and are able to communicate clearly and translate ideas to stakeholders and team members alike. Importantly, you are skilled with a range of visual outputs from sketches to high fidelity prototypes, with the ability to design interaction and product interaction design. You have previous experience working in Agile and understand what is required to 'work lean' - working closely with your colleagues to iterate and learn quickly. You are passionate about design systems, and creating consistent experiences across multiple platforms and touchpoints.
You will be a champion and ambassador for the customer experience for our digital and offline touchpoints across the entire business. Finally, your passion will be rewarded in the knowledge that you have influenced the design of a compelling suite of products that will help grow long-term customer relationships.
Primary accountabilities and deliverables
Working in an agile multi-disciplined delivery team day to day, personal design delivery tasks will be critical
Collaborating closely with colleagues from other disciplines, brainstorming concepts, freehand sketching, low-FI and high-FI prototyping to shape user-centred design solutions
Being a guardian and advocate of the design system; using the design kits, components and assets intelligently
Being a UI component expert, you will be collaborating with other designers to create accurate responsive template mockups and working with the development team to realise designs including interactive states and motion/animation
Being familiar with Design Thinking, promoting an empathy led design approach and encouraging your team to do so via team-share sessions, presentations and activities. You will play a lead role in sharing and developing the Community of Practice sessions.
Partaking in user research engagement, being able to qualify the outputs of your work against the needs of the audience.
As part of the quality assurance process, you will be responsible for reviewing the design of the product once in the development phase and diligently conducting cross-browser and device testing. You will ensure quality levels are understood and maintained.
