Description
Our Richmond, VA client is seeking a Full time Sr. Java Developer who will be responsible for designing, configuring, and testing according to functional requirements. Development is focused on software customization and integration for a 3rd party platform, based on J2EE. The candidate will be a member of an implementation team delivering a configurable application and integrations using the applications toolset and Java extensions and will be required to be a seasoned Sr. Java Developer with broad knowledge base.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Write business rules and other business logic in Java extensions.
* Create and maintain XSD and XML schemas for the purpose of integrations with external systems.
* Partner and guide 3rd party development teams by documenting and following coding standards, code reviews, control gates etc.
* Implement client's processes by configuring operational parameters such as roles and permissions, user attributes, regions, etc.
* Manage the overall application configuration and merge it with new releases of the application.
* Follow procedures in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
* Resolve issues identified in testing.
* Participate in on-call rotation for production support and troubleshooting.
Required Technical Skills:
* 4 years of developing applications using J2EE architecture.
* Solid hands on work experience with Spring Framework.
* Extensive Java web programming experience.
* Must have demonstrated experience working on teams that have included remote developers.
* Must have experience with Object Oriented Design (OOD) and Design Patterns, particularly Integration Design Patterns.
* 2 years of XML development.
* Experience and knowledge of SQL, AJAX, Javascript, HTML.
* Experience with JSP, Servlets, JDBC.
* Knowledge of communication protocols including SOAP, JMS, HTTP/s, FTP.
Preferred Technical Skills:
* Experience configuring insurance applications.
* Camilion Authority Suite experience.
* Experience developing applications in an IBM WebSphere environment.
* Experience with Agile is a plus.
Required Soft Skills:
* Superior oral and written communication skills, proven across functional and business areas.
* Demonstrated problem solving skills.
Education:
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent work experience, advanced college degree in Computer Science, Information Technology preferred.
