This is an exceptional opportunity to join one of Australia's leading financial services organisations, that value technology as a core attribute in their business plan and can boast numerous market leading technology projects. They require an experienced Solution Performance Engineer to govern the operational health of critical web based services.
This is a newly created team within the organisation responsible for maintaining the high availability of key production systems with specific non-functional mandate across the solution delivery life cycle. Key responsibilities of the team are to continually measure capacity, improve performance, ensure resilience and provide high availability.
You will essentially be a guardian of operational resilience & high availability for critical web services based on Windows.NET technologies and you will be working closely with solution and application architects to monitor existing systems and project future requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Constantly evaluate solution design, to ensure traceability and availability requirements.
- Identify non-functional risks commensurate with design and manage to closure.
- Perform complex capacity planning that takes into account project changes, demand changes and organic growth.
- Identify impacts to performance and capacity and provide requirements for operational monitoring.
- Create non-functional test cases (performance, load etc) to mitigate risks.
- Provide recommendations to business for further investment in capacity.
Skills required include:
- Strong experience with Capacity and Performance of large web based portals and the infrastructure that supports them.
- A Strong Technical Background is a must, any/all: Applications/Networks/DBA/Infra.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Previous experience interacting with Architects/Solution designers (Desirable).
- Previous experience with Windows .NET Servers, Biztalk, Oracle or SQL Server (Desirable).
Ideal backgrounds include:
- Senior operations engineers who are well versed with capacity and performance of web based applications and are looking for something more hands off.
- Senior 'White Box' Performance/Load Testers well versed with analysing architectures for risks and thereafter analysing performance and capacity of the application and infrastructure under load.
- Application or solution Architects/Senior developers who relish analysing architectures, problem solving and are interested in focusing in the art of capacity and performance management
