Oracle Programmer Needed
Technical Skills:
Strong development experience in PL/SQL using packages, procedures, functions.
Experienced in SQL*Plus commands.
Practical experience with Oracle database (9i, 10g, 11g).
Management of various database objects (eg tables, indexes, views, etc.
Familiarity with data dictionaries (eg all_tab_columns, v$ views, etc.)
Proficient in the code tuning and optimization. Can develop Oracle code that runs at optimal performance utilizing hints, cost-based optimizer, and optimal table join method practices.
Familiarity with development tools such as TOAD, PL/SQL Developer, SQL Navigator.
SQL* loader
Thorough unit testing, system testing, analysis, and debugging skills.
Aid in the creation of installation and deployment documentation
Unix Kornshell Scripting (nice to have)
Soft Skills:
Demonstrate Initiative - Self-starter:
Recognize that a task needs to be accomplished, and takes the initiative to gather the details and see that the necessary points are addressed and carried-out.
Independent worker:
Show that he can be given a task, and effectively trouble-shoot the issue and drive to a resolution. Will perform given assignments with little intervention of others or follow-up - while gaining knowledge of the application in the process.
Multi-tasking:
Must show that more than one task can be in the works at a time. The AI HQ IT team supports many applications and this resource must be able to quickly change focus, while still not losing site of prior commitments and tasks. This party must also possess ability to gather questions and concerns, note them with appropriate parties - then move onto other assignments while waiting for an answer.
Detail Oriented:
Must be able to gather requirements and have identified the needs and details required to complete the task - all the while still being able to see the big picture. As developers, the requirements of an application are black-and-white, if the appropriate details are over-looked, the application will never meet the needs of the business.
Strong application development skills:
Must have the technical development skills to analyze and identify issues. Upon identification of issue, but have development skills to write code for correction - as well as write effective and complete unit test, perform unit test, and create deployment scripts. Is an excellent problem solver.
Excellent communication skills:
Must effectively communicate with all levels of AI HQ. This includes management, peers and business teams. Must be able to clearly state the:
o current issues (enhancements/projects) at hand
o risks associated with the development of and or applying fixes (enhancements/projects) in a timely manner
o roadblocks to presenting the fix (enhancements/projects)
o status of issue resolutions (enhancements/projects) and time-line to completion
