Our client in Stratford, CT currently seeking a Weight Control Engineer for a contract-only opening

The Mass Properties Engineering core competency unit is responsible for the estimation and control of air vehicle mass properties from conceptual design through aircraft delivery.

Responsibilities include:

  • Weight Prediction - Development of weight prediction methodology utilizing parametric and analytical methods in order to provide weight estimation of an air vehicle during the conceptual design phase.
  • Weight Control - Organization, promotion, and management of weight reduction efforts in order to insure minimum weight design within program constraints.
  • Weight Tracking - Creation and maintenance of mass properties database including weight, center of gravity, and moment of inertia data.
  • Mass Modeling - Determination of mass distributions and inertia characteristics which are essential inputs to structural and dynamic analyses as well as the determination of handling qualities characteristics.

Specific functions include:
solicitation and identification of weight improvement proposals, computation of mass properties (analytically and using computer software applications), aircraft weighing, preparation of internal and customer status reports, mission center of gravity analysis, preparation of data for input into weight accounting database, and development of weight prediction methodology.
BS - Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical) w/0-2+ years experience.

Position requires an energetic person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Candidate must be willing to fully accept responsibilities, work effectively in a team environment, and possess sound judgment and a cooperative attitude. Must have a strong practical, analytical, and theoretical knowledge of aircraft design/configuration. Proficiency in CATIA analysis and Microsoft Excel is highly desirable. Requires basic knowledge of minimum weight design concepts, aircraft structure, system arrangements, and manufacturing processes in relation to aircraft performance.

Relocation may be considered.
