JOB TITLE: Quality Engineer
LOCATION: Gaydon
SALARY: 23.00 per hour
DURATION: Contract
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Reporting to management team and communicating of issues/status up and down
- Manage the delivery of new parts off-tool/off-process to get 100% accurate parts and achieve part approval for the commodities allocated
- Drive quality support plans for production release and engineering changes to ensure quality parts and vehicles are produced
- Work closely with PD and manufacturing to support virtual builds
- Carry out design studies to ensure feasibility of releases
- Agree and document the vehicle and parts quality standards to exceed customer expectations
- Support manufacturing with problem investigation and solution to ensure vehicle build timing is achieved and quality targets met
- Confirm supplier site and process capability to achieve programme delivery and volume requirements can be consistently achieved
- Lead the development and implementation of quality processes and agreed operating practices by working with other teams internally and at suppliers
- Complete supplier quality audits and define improvement action plans
Qualification & Experience:
- Degree qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering/technical discipline
- Experience of working with interior/exterior vehicles parts
- Worked previously in quality, supplier or manufacturing environment
- Experience of practical problem solving
- Has used parts approval process (PPAP/SPAP or equivalent) from early pre-drawing reviews to start of production
- Made or used inspection standards for parts and/or vehicle
- Knowledge or experience of leading supplier quality improvements during a launch or serial production
- Able to self manage and work under pressure to deliver quality, production and engineering requirements
- Able to apply problem solving skills to improve process capability, repeatability and reliability at both client and suppliers
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to develop good teamwork with cross functional peers
- Good practical engineering skills to support problems solving in a hands-on manner
- High level of self confidence and motivation
- Ability to interface with people at all levels within the organisation in a professional manner
- Ability to make informed pragmatic decisions on vehicles/parts defects using standards and experience
- Must be willing to travel to supplier manufacturing sites within UK and overseas
- Full Clean Driving License and Passport required
- Good PC skills including Excel and Powerpoint
