Job Title: Engineer - Wheels and Tyres

JOB SPECIFICATION/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the existing Engineers in the design and release of wheels, tyres, valves, balance masses, wheel nuts, locking nuts and full assemblies
  • Support design activities for CAD designers
  • Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends
  • Work with Suppliers to design and develop components & systems to meet all specified requirements such as weight, cost, durability, and performance targets
  • Analyse the suitability of parts bin' components and identify whether new or modified designs are required
  • Manage Suppliers to ensure parts are delivered on time to the required quality standard
  • Work closely with Manufacturing and Launch to enable swift and accurate fitment of components to vehicles
  • Work with Vehicle Dynamics to meet attribute targets and achieve freeze dates
  • Control Design Verification and Sign Off reporting
  • Support vehicle tests with components where required
  • Provide designs and components for concept cars and early prototype build phases
  • Participate in Failure Mode Avoidance activities - DFMEAs, Quality history reviews, Robustness studies etc

The post holder will undertake other duties as may be required to achieve the Company's objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Engineering Degree in appropriate discipline

  • 1 years minimum experience within an automotive or automotive components supplier group

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of wheels and tyres and their importance
  • Component Engineering Experience

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications
  • Can work efficiently with minimum supervision
  • Prepared to manage Suppliers both in UK and abroad
  • Rig test environment experience (Desired)
  • Proven problem solving abilities
  • Strong time management, accuracy, diligence, ability to balance and prioritise multiple tasks to meet customer needs
  • Some experience of NX CAD system would be useful but not essential (Desired)
