Swim Social Work Recruitment are looking to recruit a Consultant Social Work Practitioner to join a Looked after Children's Team based in Croydon. This is a full time post for the next 7 months.

You must hold GSCC registration and have substantial post qualification. The client will not accept CV's if you do not hold this registration/experience, so please apply if applicable.

Your job will be;
*To provide a lead on specified areas of practice development across the children's social work service
*To support specific social work staff in developing and improving skills in identified areas of work
*To support specific social work staff through observing practice, direct learning and modelling effective practice
*To ensure that areas of practice development support the priorities of the Children and Families Social Care Improvement Plan
*To ensure that priority is given within service and individual worker development to improved; planning for children, assessment and management of risk, care planning within care proceedings and permanency and parallel planning for children
*To work closely with the Team Leaders to ensure effective, accountable and measurable improvement plans are in place for specific staff
*To support staff in undertaking new significant social work tasks through modelling, observation and direct learning
*To identify ongoing learning needs for a team or particular worker and provide an achievable action plan
*To refer safeguarding practice concerns to the appropriate manager

You will have;
*Six years post qualifying experience to include a significant element of child protection work
*Experience of care proceedings and evidence of effective care planning
*Demonstrable knowledge of achieving positive and measurable outcomes for children
*Experience or evidence of demonstrable skills in supporting and developing staff in specific skill areas
*Knowledge of the impact of equality issues on care planning for children and achieving positive outcomes
*Ability to work within a quality assurance and improvement framework and evidencing the outcomes
*Significant and demonstrable knowledge of child care legislation, regulations and procedure
*Significant and demonstrable knowledge of the London CP Procedures and Working Together 2010
*Knowledge of the issues in the review of social work and the likely impact for social work practice
*Ability to provide a framework of improvement for staff and evaluate the effectiveness
*Ability to establish effective relationships with managers when delivering the practice development work
*GSCC registration required
*Social work qualification
