Description
The Security Engineer is for a high profile in Washington, DC. This person will report to a Security Consultant - Engagement Manager and will work for a security director from the client.
This person will perform day-to-day security activities as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Security Support (50%): The consultant will be responsible for security incidents and requests while performing technical duties from Members, Committees and Support Office of the client. Providing technical support for responding to and implementing Office of Inspector General recommendations.
Provide recommendations and guidance to system owners and developers in implementing effective security controls and documenting system security plans.
Security Guidance (20%): Providing technical advice and guidance to system owners, developers, and administrators to ensure compliance with security policies and standards. Including assisting network administrators with patching and audit resolution. Assist with developing and maintaining security policies, procedures, and checklists.
Security Training (10%): Conducting security training for system owners and developers.
Security Audits (10%): May be required to conduct security audits of access controls, databases, networked systems and devices and provide guidance to system owners and administrators in remediating audit findings.
Hands-On Technical Lead (10%): Functioning as a technical lead and participating in the selection, evaluation, implementation, and management of enterprise production security systems such as Firewalls, scanners, sensors, antivirus, intrusion prevention and detection, remote access, patch management, and encryption technology.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience:
CISSP a must
Extensive Windows OS experience with AD and GPOs.
Knowledge of TCP/IP Networking strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proficient understanding of Security services such as:
Vulnerability analysis
Risk analysis
Intrusion detection and prevention
Data protection
Security appliances
Proficient understanding of security products such as:
Firewalls,
scanners,
sensors,
antivirus,
intrusion prevention and detection,
remote access,
patch management,
encryption technology.
Ability to adapt and implement new procedures as required in order to provide excellent customer technical support
Ability to communicate presentations to customers
Excellent troubleshooting skill
Professionally and effectively communicate; both verbal and written at all levels within the organization
Self starter, able to work independently with minimum supervision
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
Proficiency with MS Office applications
Must learn and utilize Saleforce.com within 90 days of training
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:
Must adhere to client's Quality Management System requirements
Duties are performed at the office location typically from Monday Friday 8:00AM 5:00PM
May be required to work additional hours at month end/quarter end to support business objectives
Limited availability to take leave during peak business cycles to support business objectives
