Position Description:

Senior Capacity Planning Analyst -

  • Server Infrastructure: Internal and customer facing Servers including but not limited to Windows Servers, Linux, Unix, etc.
  • Storage Infrastructure: SAN/NAS, Locally-attached storage
  • Web Servers: ASP, Load Balancers, appliances, etc.
  • Data Center Collaboration for installation and divesture of infrastructure
  • Warehouse Infrastructure Appliances: Teradata, SAP BWA, and others.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for establishment of standard configurations for environment infrastructure to enable capacity for project and production operational systems. The Senior Capacity Planning Analyst will perform tasks including but not necessarily limited to the following:
  • Work with selective suppliers and provide regular pro-active capacity monitoring for all server and storage infrastructure within the scope of managed services. Identify suppliers and maintain a ready supply of assets to ensure that adequate capacity exists in all environments within this purview.
  • Conduct capacity analysis and analyze data including business and technical metrics from diverse sources. Document issues and follow up to verify remediation. Identify and manage relationships with vendors supporting infrastructure capacity and reporting services across environments.
  • Work closely with various engineering teams to enable business application performance and capacity prior to production deployment.
  • Work closely with the infrastructure suppliers and other groups to implement pro-active capacity alerts, notifications and escalations.
  • Work actively with the capability project teams to capture future business demand and translate into IT resource utilization models to determine and plan infrastructure needs for successful IT delivery.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc reporting (trend, SLA metrics) to members of the Engineering, Operations, and Sr Management - as required.
  • Maintain inventory of managed assets along with current maintenance agreements to meet business SLA requirements. (Order management, receipt of equipment, installation and divesture)
  • Prepare status reports, policies, procedures, and other documentation required to maintain and regulate capacity usage. Publish to external and internal customer as required.
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and dedication as well as an ability to work independently once general direction is given. Promote teamwork and foster cooperation with other groups and departments.
  • Communicate status and report information through effective written and oral communication and presentations.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a dynamic heterogeneous technology environment
  • 3+ years of capacity planning experience in a production-facing technology environment.
  • 3+ years experience with capacity planning and performance monitoring and management tools.
  • 4+ year hands-on system administration experience in Unix environment (Linux and Solaris preferred).
  • 3+ years experience managing expense and capital budgets.
  • 3+ years combined experience with any of the following technologies: Web Logic, Oracle, SAN/NAS/Backup, HP Openview, Cisco routers, Windows Server O/S.
  • 3+ years project management experience in a technology infrastructure environment.
  • Financial Analysis skills required. Excellent MS Excel and Access experience.
  • Excellent communication skills are required. Candidate must supply writing samples related to previous job experience, redacted to protect proprietary information of previous employers.
  • Demonstrated history of leadership and mentoring capability.
  • BS or BA required. MS or MBA preferred

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • PMP is a plus.
  • Experience in IT security, Business continuity and Disaster Recovery are a plus.
